Looks good, this is the first restored car I've seen them on!

the sideways arrow was on all the 66-67 Chargers....I'm wondering if the arrow shows up in the 68 factory parts books? I don't have a 68 parts book to check

yes there are a few promo chargers in ads & stuff  with the side ways arrow , i posted  link &  a picture of the arrow of a unrestored turquise  charger R/T on here or might of been the old site  ,  also posted a unrestored red basket case 68 with a side ways arrow & would say it was original to the car if you saw the pictures  , been looking for both threads & cant find them  :-\ :scratchchin:

it appears the "sideways arrow" shows up on 1968 Charger's C-pillars into the 8B108xxx range - those cars were "SCHEDULED" around the third weekend of August 1967 (Friday 8/18 - Monday 8/21)

I'd bet the MEMO/Change occurred on car's "BODY-IN-WHITE" actually built before/after that weekend

6bblgt

the June 1969 version of the 1968 PARTS CATALOG shows:

part # 2841849 medallion & seal quarter outside - 2 required "sideways arrow" *** (this is the same emblem used on the headlight door)
part # 2841886 & 2841887 nameplate quarter outside "Charger"

part # 2605094 is the medallion for the 1967 Chargers "sideways arrow"

metallicareload99

I can't make out the SPD, but it seems to have the "later" dash, hinged ashtray and glovebox opens up  :scratchchin:

looks like  816  SPD to me which  is August 16th  1967 !  yes noticed the  astray tilt out as in late 68  to 70  , the glove box door looks ok it was the  70 which had the hinge at the bottom , the  lock latch / striker  is the bent wire type , cent remember is this was the later revision over the spring loaded bar type or visa versa ... but could easily  have been changed like the astray ....  no telling whats been happening & original to the car once a cars has been restored  if you have not done the work your self  :scratchchin:

twenty mike mike

All 2nd Gen Chargers should have had those, which were officially called Darts, according to (I think) Rick Ehrenberg.

Another sad example of "decontening" from the original Chargers, which had as standard:

Tach

Radio

Rocker trim

Carpeted trunk

Molded and carpeted door panels

Flow through ventilation

All V-8 engines

I'm not counting the fold down rear seats, since that was a style change, rather than content removal, but Dodge could have been an industry leader by continuing to offer them.

Dans 68

My '68 has them but I know for a fact that the prior owner, who rescued the car and rebuilt it, added them because he liked the look. I have never seen a '68 that had them originally. Yes, they were on the early promo literature but I don't think the badging carried into the production cars.

hopefully that one is green with the green vinyl top - but check out the arrow pointing away from "CHARGER" VS. toward it on the original subject car  :shruggy:

A383Wing

the arrow should be pointing towards the front of the car...you would be surprised at how many 66-67 Chargers have had this put on backwards

Here is a picture of a 68 with arrow on sail panel

UFO

Too further blur things, Check out the pages from my 68 parts catalog. ( dated sept 67)  Not only is there a listing for the arrow , look lower at the 383 4bbl & 440 magnum emblems.

A383Wing

You could get either the "440 Magnum" or the "440 4 barrel" fender emblem on the 67 Charger. I have seen it both ways on original owner cars.

Is that an R/T emblem on the door between the scallops? Hard to see for me

Mytur Binsdirti

Here's an ad on Moparts (last one at the bottom) for a 68 that was supposedly built on the first day of production & there are no sail panel arrows. Of course who knows what's been done to this car in the 54 years since.
