:icon_smile_approve: I'm new to the forum and I'm glad I found you all. Just wondering what you guys are running in the 1/4. Let's see some eta's and trap speeds with your engine setup. I'm about to have mine ready to do a run this summer, hoping to get into the 12's. 400ci/.30 over 650 cfm 4bbl with fattys on the back.

Last time I did the 1/4 was 13.2 and change at 105.  I think that's an honest 350-ish RWHP.

Waiting for next time is a set of 2.14/1.81-valved, ported iron heads, pro-form 850 DP carb, holley street dom manifold, 4.10 SG 8-3/4" rear and a TA 10" tight converter (3500-3800) rpms.  I'm figuring this combo will give me an honest 390-400 RWHP and shold drop me into the high/mid 12's.  It will be a while, but I will definitely post runs in the combo section when I get it all done.

Cheers,
Duey

74Charger

A heavy 73' Charger that weighs some where around 4000lbs.  With only a 400ci bored .30 over with big fatty's on the back.  Is not going to get you into the 12's.  Not even close.
You need alot better combo than that to get you into the 12's.

What other work have you done?

With the little info that you have provided.  My guess would be high 14's.

Good luck though.  You will have a blast no matter how fast you go! :icon_smile_big:

In theory my ride should be able to haul ass at low 11sec times on the 1/4, but remains to be proved..

Ill tell you how it goes and post my time slips. First race is a 2 day happening, 10 of June, that day is just qualifying, then the 11th Ill see how far I can push it... Sadly I don't think Ill be running for any top positions, cause it will be my first time out and the car is brand new. In the first race, that was last Saturday, the fastest guys were running under 10sec times. To even qualify (depending on how many cars are in the stage) you need to be able to pull no less than 12sec, so it will be tough... To be able to put up a fight against the top guys, Id need an addition of atleast 200hp over the aprox. 560hp my 440 puts out right now...

I'm not an expert by the true sense of the word but a 400 .30 over and a 650 carb most likely will not get you into the 12's... regardless if you have fatty's or not. But like i said, I'm not an expert. Just don't want you to get yourself to worked up and be disappointed. A 650 probably won't deliver enough fuel anyhow to make that much power. Heck, bigger engines can't even get into the 12's sometimes.

69, those 3.23's are killing you on the strip!  You'd kick with a 3.91 or 4.10 on those 27"ers!

Jon... why not change out that mild cam to something with more "rhump" in it and at the same time change out the dual plane intake to a single plane... You have a great dynamo with serious potential to go well into the low 11`s, maby even hit a high 10sec time... Also loose the street tires and buy a set of real drag radials/slicks to get al that power to the ground...

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

John, I run my 69 with 4.10 gears and Mickey Thompson Drag Radials. I have drvien it out of town in the rain. I wouldn't run another tire if someone gave them to me. Oh, I run 28 psi on the street and 12 psi at the track.

I'm sorry I'm drawing a blank on the exact cam specs. All I can tell you now is its a MP purple cam mechanical flat tappet cam. But the intake and carb are the Edelbrock Performer RPM and a 750 cfm.

Duey, I was thinking the same cam. Mike Smith. That 493 should be touching the 10's. I posted earlier that I run drag radials. I have driven the car 3 hrs in one direction to southern Ohio in the rain. I have total confidence in the tires. I wish I could let you drive my 69. It ready to touch the 12's with a 383 and 9 1/2 inch converter with 4.10 gears. You would be very surprised how driveable the car is with the small converter and the tires. My converter only revs to 1800-2000 at part throttle because its so small for the stall speed.  My wife drives it to work with no special instructions. Don't be afraid to get a Dynamic 9 1/2 inch converter and the drag radials. You will not have to change even one driving habit. Between converter and gears you can knock off around a whole second, As long as the chassis can hold most of it.

the other thing i didn't mention is that i have no money to spend on it, at all
at least until i get a garage up at my new house
and the first priority would be better brakes anyway
i know it has loads more potential but to be honest i just want to drive it at the moment :icon_smile_cool:
