I remember seeing this car several years ago at Monster Mopar in St.Louis.

It was still in it's old paint job -Dark blue- I think?

A couple of years later it was back at Monster Mopar as we see it here.

The good doctor was always very friendly and glad to share his stories about his Daytona.

I would love to buy this car and keep it local, but I don't think I have enough kidneys, cars, or real estate to sell.🤔

Dr. Bill was a really good friend of mine and my dad. He always brought the car to our clubs show every year. This car was his pride and joy. Sad to see it leave the family and the St. Louis area. Hopefully the new owner will be as passionate about the car as bill was. Can't wait to see what it goes for and hopefully contact the new owner. Don't think the "cheeseball" battery cable end you are referring to is a $0.75 cent cable end. It's a battery cutoff switch. Have them on our vehicles. Especially good if the car is going to be stored with the battery still in it. You loosen the green knob and the battery is disconnected. Remove the green knob and it becomes extremely difficult for a joyrider to start it. A professional thief probably has a spare green knob or two handy.

By the way, that "cheeseball" device costs close to $20.00

Looked at the Odometer, can't tell the exact mileage and didn't see any mention of it.

Always loved seeing  the Dr. at Rich's pre monster mopar events and at monster mopar   . This is absolutely my favorite Daytona color combo so i usally stalked the Dr and his car everytime i saw him . Loved his tales of the car and being the original owner . you need to put your "old lady glasses" on and look at the positive battery cable end connected to the top post of the battery.....it's a cheeseball battery cable end....sticks out like a sore thumb...found at any parts store for under $1

Here's the picture in case you can't find the item that we are discussing. Look at the rear battery post, it's the positive post, closest to the firewall

If you had looked a bit closer, both cables are junk. Plug wires are a bit colorful if we are talking stock (OE).

It's a little difficult to see a lot what with our 4" screen. If that Daytona had an OE Hemi under the bonnet, we'd have paid more attention. Thank you for pointing out the error of our ways. We enjoy the banter.

We don't make mistakes often; the last time we thought we were wrong and it turned out we were right.

Well Mr. Magoo, you need to get yourself a pair of Geezer Peepers Diopter +10. In your post, (with the photo you supplied) chiding us for missing a goofy battery clamp, you missed the wing-nuts on the Battery Hold-down. Those wing-nuts look like they belong on an Air-Cleaner. There should be nuts on the hold-down, not wing-nuts.

In 2007 I met Dr. Bill for the first time at Rich's Aero car get together the day before the Monster Mopar Show. The next day he invited me to ride with him and I was doing parade laps around Gateway Raceway in this car. I took this picture out thru the rear window of his car as we lapped the track. I always thought it looked like we were racing the bird. I think Dr. Bill kinda maybe was. He was a bit of a hotrodder at heart. We spent the weekend talking off & on about the car and its history. Then we parted ways. The next year 2008 I gave him a copy of this photo. Like to think it made his day and I think it did. Can't remember for sure if he gave me another ride that year but I think he did. Last time I saw him and the car was in 2009 at the last Monster Mopar show. As with others he will be missed. I to hope the car goes to someone who really wants a Daytona and appreciates the car and it's history. It has history, trees, I beams and such.

The negative battery post is indeed a cutoff switch. I saw him lift the hood and use it after driving the car. He took the best care of that car that he could and that switch was an example of that. As far as the positive post not being correct goes I don't think that bothered him in the least. Most of us (including me) are wrapped up in making these cars as perfect and correct as possible. He wasn't so worried about that part of the hobby. He loved this car and drove it, hotrodded it and just enjoyed it. At times like these I'm reminded that maybe he was closer to being right in this area.

Really sorry to hear of his passing. Think we know how his grandson feels. We still miss our Daytona, we had it 48 years. The one thing that eases the pain of parting with her is that she now has an excellent home and caretaker in Bob Jennings. We hope the Good Doctor's Daytona finds a good and loving home.

Thanks for your wonderful tribute to the Doctor. We never met him but wish we had. Yes, his Daytona should end up with someone in the hobby that will appreciate and care for it. Speculators ruin things for the real Mopar folks and everyone else. Someone in Missouri found out we had the cars and asked if they could see them. The main guy met a guy that worked for me in Japan. The guy that worked for me happened to mention we had the cars and gave them our phone number. (corrected / edited 27 July 22)

They called and asked if they could come down to see the cars. We gave them the OK and they showed up with three trucks and trailers. We let them see the cars then they sat in their trucks with their cell phones trying to sell the cars before they bought them. We ran them off.

By your screen name, we have a feeling you have a Daytona. If you don't, we hope you have the chance one day soon. They are mystical in that there is a bond between them and their care taker. You really don't own them, they own you.
