The paint doesn't even match between the door and left quarter panel. If that car fetched 170 large, my 4-speed car must be worth at least 200!

All that work and they don't do the guages, air controls, dash, smh.

I think the $170K realized is difficult to understand, given, the example as presented just doesn't appear to be anything really 'special'.

What am I missing here ?

Decent car , maybe worth half that IMO , dash and gauges ruin it , stance to low , here come the out word dings on the front fenders , don't use impact gun to tighten door handles ,  and why it's risky to  panel paint metallic colors !!! But , ....... but at least 2 people thought it was worth near this, so what do I know .

because they are stored with the battery removed and it's only installed to move the car around

I watched it Live and could not believe the pricing, especially for a drum brake, automatic. In addition to all the flaws listed, did you guy's check out those radiator/transmission lines? WOW!!!

tan top

don't like knocking another shops / guys work etc or pull someones charger appart , i honestly think the pictures posted are of another charger , & not the one that sold for 170k , because  even if that car sold for  70k  with all the faults & things wrong not even done half decent it still would be too much IMO.
another thing i think  the car was finished by two different shops or guys  under different circumstances , the original guy who started the project guy got out of the project for what ever reason , then someone else has just slapped it together & sell / flip max profit, ( no offence to any one money is what  makes the world go round  )  because  some parts have been done well ( judging  by the pictures )  & others been gerry rigged. there is so many problems  & things wrong with this charger .

I agree with Tan Top, Started out nice, someone did a nice job on Paint & Body work. But then the guy must of ran out of money & just slapped the rest together like Earl Scheib :shruggy: I've seen this same thing happen before. Somebody paid $100k+ to much with all the flaws. LEON.

 example
have a look at the quality of work done to this 69  charger ( yes we can all find faults & or not done to our liking etc )
https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0522-503084/1969-dodge-charger-rt/
now compare it to the 68
the 68 looks like a hlpeg type resto

& the 69 sold for less  :o  even though every one knows 69s are best especially Yellow ones  :P ;)

just kidding guys you know i love them all 66 -74 they are all awesome in their own way  :drool5: :yesnod:

Tan Top, That 69 was much nicer then that 68, don't make sense the highly flawed one with many problems got more than the more OEM Correct Concourse one got? LEON.

P.S. I only disagree with you on one thing though, everybody knows a 70 is Best :nana:

Just noticed the lower dash pad below the gauges...wow.

Case of its a beauty from all external appearances from 10', lol.  The new owner has to be disappointed when he/she gets behind the wheel Id think?

Do they serve alcohol @ Meccum?

Whats this 66-74 all about.  I thought they only made 1970 Chargers?   ;)

Well someone wanted it that bad lol But makes me feel much better about my work on my cars. Not perfect but much nicer than that one(IMO) for the nothing that it is worth. Its the little things sometimes that are most noticeable.

Wow, the interior presentation lets that car down hard.

Door decals taped off.

Bright lights and alcohol.

69 OUR/TEA

The 69 much , much nicer !!! Although with some flaws to . Wrong wheels , top of grill support to shiny , rear valance corners should not be seam sealed on the back side , and I don't know why body men / body shops do this to 2nd gen chargers , the rear 1/4 lower body line is NOT supposed to be that sharp / crisp !!!! Either a cheater lower panel that was formed that way , or they juiced it up with filler . Also , something looks weird with the hood turn signal ???
I love the bottom detail of the car , very nicely done . And the color combo is very nice !!!

In all fairness the listing says "original interior" which it certainly is. Seems like a shortcut to me but hey, maybe that's why the buyer wanted it?  :shruggy:

what the other guys say  :yesnod:
like i mentioned i dont like pulling appart someones charger , there is lots of things wrong more than i've mentioned ,  the most important  things to me that stand out  , not done correctally , painted wrong color ,finish, missing , there is a nice coat of clear , but as for the base coat looks like panels painted off the car & or by differnent  painter , different paint mix , put the base coat on drier on the quarters  or all , shame looks awesome in that color , the seat covers are not the best install , & looks like repop bumpers fit they  crap , says it was restored 2016 i doubt it , the body & paint may well of been completed then. when you see simple things obviously wrong or missing  like a 2 dust caps & headlamp vacuum lines not connected .... whats the quality of the more important stuff .... 170k  for this   :brickwall:
still good luck to the owner & seller

$170K for that '68
and then
$165K for that '69

I don't get it....
Who, and what demographic circumstance beyond 'too much money' is buying these Chargers for those amounts ?

Anybody know if it's just 2nd Gen Charger's ? or has everything else been selling 'up there' as well ?

The different paint flop from doors to quarters seems pretty common on these, Mine used to be the same.

(I think from having the doors/fenders laying flat rather than upright when painting)

But agreed the price is boggling. Seems they started out with good intentions then rushed to "finish" it.

I have that exact orange tape. It is a cheap paint masking tape. Note how one of the body plugs is wrapped in it. That tape is rather fresh. I bet there was a hasty paint tough up in that area very recently.
