Cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway?

Had a fun little trip to North Carolina last week, which included a lovely drive over the Blue Ridge Parkway to the town Cherokee and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. While tooling along in my buddy's modern 4-door Jeepster, I was wondering just what a tour of that road would be like in a classic car? Has anybody here ever done that one?  It's up high in the mountains (hills from my perspective here in the Rockies) so cooler (and prone to rain) but... absolutely dazzling scenery, no commercial traffic allowed (so no trucks spewing diesel exhaust & blocking the view), fairly slow speeds (like 45mph) lots of twists and turns (& tunnels!).  I'll bet it get very busy at times (like in the Fall) but it wasn't last Thursday. A very memorable drive.

As requested:

Reason for going...

The road was simply beautiful and the destination was fairly exotic. Nothing like lush and green to make me feel nostalgic (grew up in it). The fishing wasn't half-bad either.

Super fun in fall with a 4 speed!

That looks like Table Rock Mountain, I don;t live far from the Parkway, maybe 15 minutes or so.

Beautiful scenery, you gotta drive up into Virginia, I did that several times, beautiful up north too.

Lloyd....
How are you able to post a picture with captions and text in between?
I can only post text with the pictures loading below.
Your way would make storytelling  a WHOLE lot better. At FBBO, you're able to insert pictures, write a bit, insert pictures and tell the story.
I don't see how to do that here.

He's posting pictures from a third-party hosted site (imgur.io).

KD: I do use Imgur as the 3rd party option. Very simple and straightforward and....free (so far). I keep waiting for the Photobucket thing to happen though...

Just took this a few days ago at the dog park here. Loved the lighting-effect caused by the tree.

You likely already know this but...I take a shot with my cell phone, email it to myself & save it to my computer. I then fire-up my free Imager account and upload that photo to my archive there. Next, I highlight that pix and save it to their "Linked BBCode" option (they have several other options as well, not sure exactly why). I write my little ditty here and then "Control-V" paste the image to my post from Imgur.

Viola!

Because it's 3rd party, it doesn't use the precious resources of this site & it doesn't cause all the naming convention challenges here either. If Imgur goes sideways someday, however, all these photographs will be lost.

Hope that helps.
