Question ?? On the door panel shown I did not see the little square chrome things on the top corners. I thought they were on all chargers. I know my after market door panels didn't come with them. And unfortunately I had tossed my original panels before my new ones came.  Just curious as why it don't have them.

Discontinued mid 68 I believe and did not carry over into 1969 models either. Cost cutting perhaps?

Well I am far from an authority but the pinch welds on the drivers side look different to me also. Wouldn't it have had a pie tin on the air cleaner. Not knocking the car as it is beautiful. Just curious as to the originality of the car.

Thank you for the response. Guess It would be ok to leave them off of mine. I felt stupid for not keeping the old door panels till the new ones came. I know better than to throw anything away till you get the new. One of several mistakes I made on my 68.

A/C equipped 383's were rated at 330 hp instead of the Magnum's 335 hp & as such didn't get the pie tin.

Thanks for that information. So much to learn from these old cars. No wonder there is so much uncertainty in restoration.  :shruggy:

Applications change by year....

68 Chargers didn't get a 335 horse assembly regardless of A/C or not. All '68 Charger 383-4 were the 330 horse assembly.
No 68/69 335 horse assembly with A/C in any B body.
First 335 horse assembly with A/C appears in the 1970 model year.

I have a December built 68 & it has the bullseye  and chrome map pocket decorations & my March built Charger had the Fratzog & no map pocket decorations. Don't know when the switch took place.

I remember this topic from years ago but do not remember the consensus or research.

Do you know if there is a difference between XP vs XS cars and the bullseye or fratzog? Meaning did XP cars get the bullseye only and the XS cars the fratzog?

That car is pretty much a dead ringer for my car except mine is 66-1 (F8) paint, $80K is kinda high...note the 383 HP motor has the unsilenced air cleaner but no pie plate, just as my research shows.

Any 68 with A/C would not have the 383 HP assembly. The 383 HP with A/C does not appear until the 1970 model year. There is no way to know if the air cleaner pictured is original or not.

I consider a 383-4 a HP motor even though I know it is only the 330 HP config, as opposed to the  383-2 single exhaust motor.

is the later years 335 hp a 383magnum?
