I used to own a 1968 Dodge Charger XP29 with a 383 4-barrel w/automatic,  I no longer have the car but I do have the inner fender tag off the left inner apron. I lost track of my car in and around the early 80's If this car is still around, I would be willing to let this tag go to the current owner to replace on his or her car to go back to the original car? If you have or know of someone who owns a 1968 Dodge Charger that is missing their tag, I will send the tag to the person that has my old car, The person has to send me the last 6 digits of the vin number and if it matches my vin, I will send the item to you. let me know, my name is Douglas (Gene) Maddox and I live in the Mesquite Texas area.(Dallas Texas suburb) I also have the original bill of sale when I took delivery in 12-22-67 at the Dodge Trucks Inc dealership. I do not have the original Monroney sticker (Window Sticker) or the Broadcast Sheet under the rear seat (It may still be in the car). I only have the above mentioned plate.
If you want to contact me,my email is dmaddox@tx.rr.com

Thanks, gene Maddox

All the fender tags on every classic car are attached there.

68 tags do not have the vin on them that is on the dash vin
Think they have the number that is stamped on the rad support
The only way to match them up with the VIN on the dash is with the build sheet paperwork as it will have both sets of numbers on it

Might help if you list a couple of the details on the tag like what colour the car was or what size the engine was when new or just the very last digit in the number on your tag
Could spark some interest for a current 68 owner to get in touch if it could be theirs

Just for the record Gene contacted me through the 68 Registry and I suggested he post here since I don't have any owner info.

it is a "needle in a haystack" scenario to reunite lost parts & paperwork that a little more info would help
:Twocents:
list the VIN number - it is something about the car that won't change over 40+ years
list its original color and the color it was when last known
list its original drivetrain combination and the combination when last known
list its last known location - car could've travelled all over the world

if located, have current owner provide proof of ownership & a picture of the (non-disclosed shipping order #) body number which will match the lower right # on the fender tag in the case of a '68 Charger

Let me see if I can clear up any questions, the color was MM1 Turbine Bronze, it was equipped with 383 cu in 4bbl and Torqueflite transmission. The rear axle was  3:23 ratio.first 7 digits of the Vin was XP29H8B,if anybody has a charger with a fender tag missing and can supply the last part of their Vin plus the shipping order number, please respond, thanks, Gene Maddox

P.S.- I am not asking money for the plate, I just want to reunite the plate with the car if it is still around and maybe make the current owner happy.
