damn chris that just sux ass.  I do not have any great words of wisdom or outstanding advice, I just want to say that I am thankful that you are alive and doing well.  I hope everything goes well for you during this debacle, and I will have you in my prayers.

Sorry to see this Chris. The main thing is that you are still here and not pushing daisy's out of the ground. All the other stuff will work out for you. In my opinion, you definetly have possible justification for litigation to at least get your vehicle back in order. Like everyone else has commented, makesure you get yourself checked out to makesure you are OK. All your internal organs got jolted pretty good.

Don't laugh, that tool actually works pretty well.  Chris can attest to it as he saw my car at E-town after I used it on my fender.  Although, I think it will take a little more than that to fix you situation.

Sorry to hear about the accident Chris as I just got back and noticed the thread today.

The truck can be replaced but, the important thing is that you are alright. From your description I think you have a good case for some type of compensation whether you feel the need to or not. If you have not already my advice would be to see a doctor and at least be checked over to document potential problems even if you are feeling OK now. From the looks of the truck you took a good impact and if any symptoms develop or linger on you may have trouble proving the cause later if it ever comes to that.

Glad you're OK Chris, but get checked out. The truck is replaceable, and hopefully you will be re-einburst fairly.

That sucks Chris, but I'm glad you're OK. I agree about getting looked at regardless of how "ok" you think you feel. I have heard of people dropping dead a week or so after an accident because the accident caused a tear or anomoly and then when they bent over and tried to pick up their kid an annurism burst or their aorta tore completely. I don't want to panick you, but I will admit that I'm trying to scare you just a bit.

As far as athe accident goes, I don't believe that the other driver can defend his actions, and you should not be liable for anything. One sure fire way to get the ball rolling in your favor would be to file a claim for the vehicle, medical and pain andd suffering with your insurance company. They will then go after the county and you should see a settlement check coming your way sooner than later. I in no way advocate frivilous lawsuits, but you obviously are legitimately a victim here and I have always found that if you aim high (ask for more than you expect) they will aim low and you will both meet somewhere in the middle....hopefully. Good luck bro....

Chris, I finally had a chance to read this thread, & wow! That crunch makes the dent on my truck look like nothing. Glad you're okay.

Aside from whether the other driver was at fault or not, my money says you'll have more headaches with your own insurance company. Especially when they won't total it & tell you it can be fixed for $2800.   ::)  The insurance companies suck, all of them, it doesn't matter which one you have coverage with.

As for cop bashing, I won't, but I had two relatives who were police officers in NYC, & I had been told stories that would make your effen head spin. Not all cops, or any person in any proffession, are bad or abuse power, but some are "bad apples" if that's what you can call it. One of my cousins was kicked off the force, & an uncle (through marriage) had seen & done stuff that would make Rodney King ask to stay in L.A. & ask for another beating.  (I stopped talking to him & never went back to his home. Glad that stupid prick uncle is dead.)

this is what happened to my cousin.  He had internal bleeding after an accident, did not know it, and died in his sleep the night of the accident.
