The characters in this story are T. Cullen Davis former multi millionaire and Richard "Race Horse" Haynes great trial lawyer.

Race Horse was Cullen Davis' lawyer in a couple Davis murder trials.

Haynes was a great lawyer and usually his clients, including Davis, were acquitted. When he first began practicing law, Haynes would sometimes ask his clients to thank the judge and jury after their acquittal.

He ended the practice after one client said: "Ladies and gentlemen, I want to thank each and every one of you. And I promise you that I will never, ever do it again."
