What years came with clear or amber lenses? What determines on clear or amber lenses?

I was always under the impression that the 1970 model changed to the amber lens and prior to that the globe was amber instead.

That's what I thought but my big parts manual shows clear and amber lenses for 70.

My understanding is that the '70 Charger and Challenger used amber, the 71-74 Challenger used clear.

In the parts manual, it shows Clear and Amber. Clear Part #3420554-5 and Amber Part #3420552-3. I can't post a picture of the parts manual page because it is too large.

Maybe the clear lense number is a supersedes number.

( BTW, all Challenger years were amber )

I went to the PC to check  and it lists the same for Chargers, clear and amber. But at least 68/69s got clear! There is not a previous Challenger to the 70 getting clear!!!

also a diff color lense for 70 Coronets.

My 70 has amber and it was built in 69.
