I need a picture or pictures showing the routing of the air conditioning lines under the hood of a '68 Charger R/T.  The car is going together, and I'm not sure that the ones we have are correct.  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...Brian

I have posted 68 AC pics before but I can't find them on the site, I must not be doing a very good search.

Anyway here are a few 68 440 AC Pics.

Thanks Dan.  Those pictures will be a BIG help to me.   Have a great weekend....Brian

Once again good pics Dan, have you got a pic of what the throttle return spring goes too on a 68 440 car. On my 68 i've got this large bracket on top of the inlet manifold that the compressor bolts to, most cars i've seen have a different bracket.
I've got these pics of throttle return brackets, whats right for 68 & where does it go ?
Thanks

Sweet motor, the top bracket is correct for 68, it bolts to the compressor.

One last question, where does it go ?
Heres a pic of the back of my compressor, am i missing a bracket it goes on or does it go where that bottom bolt is in that square bit, as this bolt looks like its been out a one time.

I have never had an AC car, but I have seen a picture of where the bracket goes, but I can't
seem to find it, but I thought it was near the bottom.

I will keep looking

I realize this initial thread is 8 years old at this point, but so far it has been the most helpful thread I've found while trying to figure out what the correct a/c brackets for a 1968 B body look like (in this case a Charger), so for documentation's sake I'm going to add some more pictures to it.

Can't remember where this first picture came from.  Probably from forbbodiesonly.com.

All the following comments are concerning big block engines...more specifically, the 440.

I've spent hours reading forums and looking at pictures the last few days and think I have a pretty good idea what the '68 A/C brackets I need look like.

And I've figured out '68 and '69 big block A/C brackets are definitely different.  And the compressor sits in the car differently.

What initially started me on this quest is the fact that I've always had a problem with not enough clearance between my power steering pump and my A/C compressor.  The PS cap actually touched the bottom of the ac compressor.  20 years ago, I solved this problem by taking a hacksaw and cutting one the ears of the PS cap. :'(

After all my research, I've figured out I've got a '68 power steering pump and bracket, with '69 A/C brackets (front and rear brackets).

On a '68 big block, the a/c compressor sits very un-level in the car.  That is, the driver's side compressor head sits much higher than the passenger side compressor head.

On a '69 big block, the a/c compressor sits level in the car.  That is, the top of the compressor heads are at the same elevation.

Below is a '68 compressor followed by a '69 compressor:

So in my case, I'm going to have to track down all four A/C brackets for a '68 440 (front and back brackets and both tubular side brackets).

And maybe the clutch/pulley as well.  Most of the pics I've seen show the '68 with a clutch/pulley that steps down to a significantly smaller diameter in the front (mine doesn't).
