I have a 69 R/T project charger that i need to sell. I was in the process of restoring but ended up buying a 69 383 car that was nearly finished... so i need to let the R/T go to a new home.  I paid a pretty penny for the 383 car, so i need to recoup as much cash as i can from the R/T.  Has anyone had good luck out of ebay? I thought about posting it on there.  It has been posted on a couple of facebook groups but so far it has been nothing but low ballers and tire kickers.  I see rusted out XP cars going for pretty good money, so i would think my 440 XS car should bring a little more than some of the low ball prices ive been offered so far.  It has almost every part to put it back together.  I have a ton of new metal still in boxes.  It has good subframe and floors.  I have 27,000ish in it and would like to recoup as much as possible.  Should i give ebay a try? I think it would be less BS compared to a facebook group but thought i would ask here first.

Thanks,
Marshall

Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

A lot of us old farts don't do facebook.

Ebay has become a joke for most things, I don't look at it very often any more.

Be sure to include lots of pictures, an actual price and your location.

I sold one in November.

The buyer first contacted me through one of my Facebook posts. When I listed it on eBay he pulled the trigger. Tough to beat the global exposure of eBay, it made him uncomfortable.

Facebook is definitely capable of connecting you with the buyer. You have to be patient dealing with the dreamers and tire kickers and lowballs. Plan on at least 50 unique contacts.

I sold a 70 R/T driver project on ebay about 5 years ago now
I am in Canada and the car went to Germany

I put a reserve on my car and it did not go over the reserve till about 5 minutes from the end of the listing time

List your car with a reasonable reserve and see what happens
If it does not sell you will at least see what value it could be sold at

Be honest with your description and say the car will not leave your property till all funds have cleared at your bank
Also say you need a non refundable deposit with in 24 hours of auction ending ask for $500
If buyer gets cold feet and does not follow through you at least got $500 for your troubles

I sold a 70 Charger on eBay, and also a Rallye Charger and a Demon. You still get a lot of lowball offers and other goofballs just like any time you sell something that everybody wants. It's just part of it. The best strategy is to just to ignore those people and focus on communicating with the people who seem serious.

At the very least, eBay is good advertising. I got lots of interest and all 3 sales were quite easily. Two cars fell short of the reserves and I negotiated the final sales with bidders after the auction outside eBay. I sold the Rallye to a guy who made me an generous offer over my reserve. In reality, I guess I can't say that I actually sold on Charger on eBay..... I really just used eBay for the advertising.

Never sold a Charger on eBay but I did sell my pick-up a couple of years ago. I think the keys are: Good photos, very accurate description (all the good, bad and ugly), reasonable Reserve Price and finally - be specific up front regarding deposit required, form of payment accepted.

The more precise the listing, the less likely you'll run into problems or non-sense later on. All that said, if I was selling a Charger - I'd list it here first (no seller fee here).

Good luck...

I bought in the earlier days of ebay, 2000.  Still have the car today after a complete restoration.
Back then it was a buyer beware.  Won the auction, went to pick up the car and it was not as advertised (transmission) and renegotiated the price on-site - $6,200 down to $5,700
