Hello DodgeCharger forums,

I appreciate anyone's responses to my question in advance.  Im new to the boards but i'm not new to owning a Charger.  I have had 4 total, but the one I have now I purchased when I was 17 (32 years ago!).

I have been trying to get exact production numbers on a Charger with the 3 options listed above for a long long time.  I have searched these forums and it gets close but no one actually answers the number question for those three options together.  I would appreciate it if someone could answer this long running question in my mind.

My exact car is a 1969 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum R/T, SE, Hemi 4Speed, Trac Pac Dana 60 rear end.

I hope someone knows the exact number.  I have always guessed it to be at 500 or so.

Thanks again for the help,
Burt

Wow, I never would have thought on a doge charger forum no one would have a production number.  Hmm, back to the drawing board I guess.

You are asking for information that does not exist.

Chrysler Corporation didn't keep records of how many cars were built with what  options.

The best you can hope for is an educated guess.

mopardirttracker

Interesting.  I have seen people quote production numbers of cars with options as minimal and insignificant as rear console cigarette lighters or rear defrost, but options as large as an RT/SE 4-speed is unknown.  Guess ill never know.  Thanks for the response.

Mike DC

IIRC there are numbers known for the options individually.  There aren't numbers for how the options combined.  (They know how many 4spds were built, and they know how many cars were painted red.  But there's no record of how many cars were red + 4spd.)  Sorry about that.

At any rate, it sounds like a very rare & cool car you have there.   :2thumbs:

Wheres that 6bbgt Guy, he seems to have all the answers :scratchchin: :shruggy: :shruggy: :scratchchin: :shruggy:

6bblgt

does the OP want to share pics of his car & fender tag?

6bblgt

as has been stated - Chrysler Corp. didn't track combinations of OPTIONS (except for drivetrain)

the numbers that are out there are NOT total production, so there won't be any "EXACT NUMBERS" & there is built in ERROR in the manner that Chrysler maintained these numbers

the OP also asked about R/Ts with "HEMI" 4-speed ..... there are NO 1969 manual transmission Charger R/Ts with anything other than the H.D. 18-spline 4-speed unit (does adding "HEMI" make it more special?)

with 50+ available OPTIONS, many color exterior/top/interior/stripe combinations that most non-program cars are 1 of 1, that fact doesn't make too many cars "extra special" (know of any identical '69 R/Ts?)
a 1969 Charger R/T SE 440HP w/4-speed is a rare & desirable car - it doesn't matter whether 300 or 1,000 were built & it is RED    if you want to brag up the car, bring out the pics  :coolgleamA:

I'm guessing that "N97" was an option as well on Y14 cars  and NOT trackable as well.

Or is there anyway to track how many were built(N97) to comply with California Noise Reduction in 1969 ?

Never hurts to ask I guess, given....that some stuff like Exhaust/Resonators/Air Cleaner had to be built differently for N97 ?   if "Y14" ordered and destined for sale at McCune Chrysler in San Diego, California ?

Mine is a 1969 R/T SE in X9 Black, Y14 and N97, unrestored and still runs great !

N97 was not an option but mandatory addition to cars sold in CA. Therefore it wasn't tracked like an option. Therefore, no numbers show up on the O&A report.

N97 would be like N51 Max Cool package. The code and associated parts are triggered by another event or situation but not something that was tracked on its own.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Thanks for the information folks, its much appreciated.  It wasn't a brag thing as much as I was just curious because I have held on to the car for 32 years and always wondered the production numbers.  Ok don't judge me because I have a tunnel ram on it and a hole in the hood! Lol, I have the original hood in my garage for when I put the original motor back in it.  I wanted to put it back like I had it when I was driving it to high school when I was 17.  I even found the original shifter ball I had at my parents house when I took it off for my Hurst "T" handle from back in the day:

No sir, the original color combo was T5 Bronze, White Vinyl Roof, and Tan interior with two tone Special addition leather seats.  The car actually had a stripe delete option with the large R/T emblems on the quarters.  I was thinking that in the next 5 years or so when I have my fun with the tunnel ram im going to start putting everything back to original with a full restoration.  Its earned a restoration after my street racing days in the 80's and 90's  :icon_smile_big:

If asked for proof those types have none - because there is no proof.

They just lie.

Yours is just awesome that you've used it and enjoyed is you have ? Fantastic !
So you are contemplating putting yours back to Original ?   THAT is one very rare R/T SE you have there !

Mine is a 20 footer LOL ! has lotsa flaws up close, chips etc. ?
but mostly just really well maintained/garaged/Solid California Car that emigrated to Canada with a retired USN Fighter Pilot(original owner).
Worst thing ever happened to it was I acquired and DROVE it LOL !

I'm debating doing the 440 Engine now as it is starting to show it's age ? Little bit scared as I don't wanna head down that slippery slope where one thing leads to another, then another etc., etc ? I mean just undoing the original exhaust H-Pipe scares me ?

mopardirttracker

Wow, that thing is clean!  I don't really worry about a car being a 20 footer (mine is too) because 90 percent of making it a 2 footer is actually getting it!  Hard parts done  :2thumbs:  Its funny when I was younger the idea of getting a car that had a stripe delete seemed nuts.  Now that I have gotten older, I love the big R/T emblems on the quarters and couldn't see my car any other way.

You are the perfect guy to ask because when I redo the interior in my car I can't find new seat covers that came in my charger originally.  Can you take close up pictures of your seats so I can see if they are like mine?  I haven't seen another tan interior SE charger that has the leather in the center like mine making it kind of a two tone seat color.

This questions for everyone: Does anyone know a good place that would have new seat colors for Tan SE interior?  Is there such a place that has all replacement interior pieces that are tan that's one massive package?

Thanks folks!

:coolgleamA: :2thumbs: looks awesome in black with  no vinyl though  :yesnod: ,    when your charger was new T5 -V1W -CRT  that was is a striking color combo !  would be a difficult choice if it was  mine returning it   T5 & factory color combination !  looks awesome ! but so does black  :scratchchin:  :shruggy:

when i got my charger / found my charger that ticked all the boxes color combination i wanted  R/T etc  i was 17   ,  32 odd years ago ( time flies ) never knew much about codes but knew it had to be XS29L9  & a  Y2  with black top & interior  decoded tag  later on  & it was a A47 with a V1T  ,  mine was V88 stripe delete too , & thought will add a bumble bee stripe when i restore it , course , tastes & times change  , like the R/T  name plates  on the rear quarters now  better !  although the bumble looks awesome  . i put the R/T quarter badges back after i done a nut & bolt resto 20 years ago  :P.
