This car has been sitting at the local body shop for 3 years and I finally asked about it. The owner (of the shop) took posession of the car after non payment on paint and body work. He applied for a junk title and recieved it I don't know how long ago.

Anyway, The body is pretty decent shape. I checked all the places I know usually get the rust. It has some bubbles under the "new" paint on one of the lower quarters and one of the fenders. It has a 400 block from 1976-78 and it runs. Trunk and wheel wells look very good.

8 1/4 rear. It had air. It has a strange interior that I think is custom but in good shape. No exceptional rust on the frame except a little bit on the K-member.

I would have to get it running and inspected to get the title from PA.

Price is $3500.

Any opinions?

Thats pretty good. I could of bought a 73 project car with a non running 318 for 2000. It needed paint, interior. Basically new everything. So Im gonna say 3500 for that car is pretty good. BUT, can you register a car that has a junk title?

If it runs and drives now and is presentable, I would say you can't get hurt at that price.

Why is there rust bubbles under the new paint?  Id be worried about the rest of the bodywork.

he said it was painted 3 years ago. the average bodyshop paint jobs are made to last 3 to 5 years tops. Its not restoration quality paint, just the average run of the mill bodywork you would see on your moms ford taurus.

I dissagree with that.  Maybe your average Maaco Paint job is going to last that long, but any body shop worth their salt will do a better job than that.  AND, bubbles are caused by either moisture under the paint (rust) or improper application.  both of those are very bad signs.  I wouldn't give him a dollar over $2000.
