Door edge protectors...yes or no

My car came with factory door guards but they will mess up the paint if I put them back on so I got a roll of U-shaped chrome stuff from ebay for cheap. wondering if I shoulf keep it. Went one easy enough with no paint damage, just slips on

I use some plastic strips from Griots.  Just Google door edge protectors.  Mine were a 3/8" piece of adhesive plastic that you wrap around the door edge.  Prevents 90% of chips to your door and 80% of dings to the guy parked next to you.  You can get it from a lot of sites.  Here's one.  Next to invisible.

If it's not all chipped or scratched up underneath, take them off unless you have a habit of slamming your doors into other people's cars when you park.

nice option to have factory or dealer installed    but if mine came with them ! , i would leave them off

- Tan Top thanks for the kind words. Deep-dish 15inch are VERY hard to find, I think they stopped making them after 1990. Nice thng about those is just takes (a lot) of elbow grease to bring them back to life!

With all I'm a chrome and molds lover I'm not sure would add them because I feel they break the car lines, but I think being coded on a nice car like your I think would keep them.

Thanks for the votes and feedback guys. Verdict is...I'm taking them off. Even thouse leaving them on was leading in the poles I think it does break up the lines, so back to "normal"

I think they look nice and break up the color. Mine came with them but I had to take them off when the car got painted.

I agree.    Personally, I would never put those on my own car.    But if you like the look, it's your choice.

I'm glad to see this conversation as I have been considering the same. 
I am doing a numbers matching rebuild and the car came with the edge guards, but I am leaning towards leaving them off as well. 
I too think they break-up the lines too much

Exactly why I use the clear plastic ones on all my cars.  They are next to invisible.

My car came with them when I bought it in the 80's. They have been on there ever since.
