Power windows

I've got a 69 Charger SE with power windows.  I've only had it a couple months and am sorting out all the bugs.

The windows only work with help up and down. I've removed the front motors/actuators.  Disassembled them, cleaned the brushes and commutator shaft, lubed and reassembled them. They work fine on the bench but when installed the windows still need help.  It seems like the glass is getting crooked in the channels.  If I lift or push them right in the center they will slide up and down fairly well but the arm on the actuator moves off center as it travels.

Has anyone had any experience with these before?  I can't figure out how to make them work right.

Think it is all the old grease on the window tracks themselves are making it hard to move the glass up and down

On the front edge of the door window there is a plastic piece covered in felt to help guide the window up and down in the track. After 50+ years they are worn out and usually missing pieces.  Causes slop in the window and it binds. NOS ones are unobtainable and the repro ones don't fit.  When you had the regulators out you should have manually raised and lowered the window to see if it ran smooth.  There is an assist spring on the regulator to help raise the window,( because of the weight of the glass). Make sure it is not installed backwards, it would make the window barely able to go up. WINGNUT

The regulators are still out. The glass will go up and down manually if I lift it straight up in the middle.  It won't fall down on its own.  You have to push it but it has to be centered.

I'll check for the plastic piece covered in felt. Is it attached to the glass?

If you don't have a FSM, get one; it covers adjusting the windows.

The rear window guide (red arrow) can be adjusted for/aft. If it's too far forward it will pinch the glass and make it hard to move up/down.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Yes, it rides inside the vent window channel. WINGNUT

It appears that someone put in the aftermarket felts. They are dragging in the channel. Also missing the lower support on the front channel. Looks like I'm going to have to find parts.
