Changed car battery now the key FOB doesn't work

Hello and Thanks in Advance,

    I changed the battery in my 2009 Charger and now the key FOB will not open the doors or start the car. using the key inside the FOB works just fine. Is there a way to re-program the car to recognize the FOB or is this a dealer only fix?

Run the car through several start/run cycles and the problem might cure itself.

I always use a "memory saver" plugged into the lighter socket to prevent such problems when changing batteries.

On my Range Rover 98 the owner's manual says how to proceed to reprogramming the key when, for example, you replace the key batteries. In some cases you need to have the factory code assigned to the central computer module. But some others is enough just to proceed with some steps pressing some of the buttons in an specific order or time while the key is into the ign switch.

About the code, normally is given with the original cars document on an specific card. If missed, normally any dealer will be able to provide you the code after you prooved you are the owner.

Have you ever checked the owner's manual?

    This was a used police car, we didn't get a manual when we purchased the car. I was hoping to avoid a day at the dealer.

about the BeCM ( body central module ) code, it should be free to be provided by any Chrysler dealer.

I'm just talking from the Land Rover experience. Dunno if Chrysler is similar. My Charger is from 1974 LOL

There was an ignition switch recall in 2015 that made owner programming no longer possible.
