I am about 45 minutes out from looking at a Factory Triple Black 1969 R/T SE 4 speed trac pack car that has been locked in this garage since 1982. I am gonna have to make an offer and really do not have a starting point. I can verify everything and condition but don't know where to begin on offer of one like this. Any thoughts?

You mean ADD $10 K as they never had an R/T SE Pkg in '68 ?

You would think the Seller would at least remove all the garbage off the Car and clean it up a bit ?

Like WTF ?

or am I missing something here in the 'discovery' or 'garage find' genre of marketing these old Cars ?

If the car has been stored away that long odds are good the owner or seller know what they have and it will not be cheap
As in you have to offer more than any one else ever has  :brickwall:

The owner and I could not come to an agreement on price. We were $10,000 apart. When you take the emotions out of it I could not make buying it make sense. Wished him the best of luck on selling. Car needed a lot of work. A complete restoration really.

The 3 pictures look like a good starting point but I'm sure theres a very good reason why it hasn't turned a wheel in 30 years. don't feel bad, what ever you think it would cost to restore it DOUBLE it!

Here's one for only $95,000.

Yes it would be interesting to know what the asking price was on something like that

I will guess they wanted $70 K for it

It would be nice to know the presenting condition of the Car itself as it currently sits ?    whatever history/provenance, numbers, etc., etc.
just my opinion...
but I don't believe the monetary details are anyone else's business beyond the negotiation was 'unsuccessful' ?

Oh for sure I'm "curious" same as anyone else what the asking price is/was ?

But that said....
given the nature of what it is ? and the obviously somewhat emotional nature of pursuing as we have labelled it here a "Holy Grail".... I just don't believe that myself ?.... you ?.... or anyone else's opinion matters as to "what" the Car may be worth to anyone else at this juncture without far more information so I'm not going to ask nor expect any monetary details ?

Bottom line...
I just think any PRICE guesses as to what's reasonable or fair are counter productive without far more information.... and "condition" of the car for continuity ? anyways.... so why bother ?

Since potential Buyer looked this car over extremely well, every fine detail for condition & for flaws that need major repair, He could provide us all with this highly coveted valuable important information you/we seek to determine our own value. Plus if he don't want to offer $10k more maybe somebody else in here does?  :shruggy: :Twocents: :scratchchin:

I didn't see any "For Sale" ad per se.... just a post of the Fender Tag and a grainy Pic of the Car under a bunch of Boxes in a garage with a caption I think said "I just inherited this... any idea what it's worth" ?

Basically, I think he/owner was fishing ?

People that had not seen the car's condition at all was telling him it was worth $50,000 to $70,000 as it sat! Well, if you want to have $150,000 in the car you can pay that. I spent 3 hours putting tires on it, rolling it outside for the first time in 41 years and crawling all through the car from bumper to bumper! I got a call back this morning and should be picking the car up Friday if all goes well since he has thought it through.

Sorry to keep everyone in suspense. Here is the message I received Thursday night "I have to put things on hold for right now, my mom took a down this week and one of my grandchildren ended up in the er. thank you" So, with this I have not gotten any other replies when trying to contact him.

Bummer , the waiting game now !!!

I lost out on one '66 Charger when I was younger. It was out of town and the seller agreed to sell it to me. While trying to coordinate with a friend on the use of his trailer that he owed me for another favor, the seller told me their family talked them out of selling. It then showed up for sale online for multiple times over what we had agreed on.

You learn that when you have a hook on something, go get it right away. Last I saw a decade later that car was still in the same condition, apart and not running.
