Nice looking car, but it needs to be redone. Those rust bubbles are a sign of lots of dollars to be spent.

1968 Charger R/T, matching numbers 440/727, black with green top and interior, currently getting restored by me

ALBSURE1091

Something up with it. Always thought A01 was code for the light package. Map light glove box etc.  Always thought build date is a 3 sequence #.  Maybe different with a 68 build date for the 69. Notice it has the map pocket chrome corners on door and black door handle buttons which was a 68 only thing so ya never know what went on in those days on assembly line. Being a 68 build it looks like they used a few 68 parts.   Either way she's a beauty

HeavyFuel

Nice car.

The half-assed restoration keeps it from being a great car.

The new owner should drive the loving crap out of it for about 5 years, get that out of his system, then do a full re-do of the whole car.

yes correct  A01 is the code for the light package , but this charger did not have that option from the factory ,
it was / is coded for hood turn signals though L31 code.
the A01 your seeing on that fender tag is the SPD date,   on  the first of october  1968 ,
yes your partly correct on the scheduled production dates they are three numbers , but for  october , november , december  there is a letter A , B  or  C then two  numbers .  prolly because the SPD would turn into 4 digits  for those 3 months.
good spot on the map lamp , maybe it was a dealer added item  or who knows who has done what over the years .
being a 68 built 69 charger it will have the black exterior door handle buttons .

Had a feeling a 68 built 69 would have some different codes. Always learn something new! I have a 69 and added the Map Pocket chrome so I always spot it on other cars.

That's an odd looking fender tag.

Looks like a reproduction tag to me...

I agree.... IMO, that Fender Tag is a repop, but I'm not going to elaborate as to why I hold that opinion.... it's easy enough for others to see why.
Only wimps wear Bowties !

darbgnik

Nicely optioned car. And it looks like the seller is trying to be honest about its condition. Over 60K to have to eventually re-do the car seems rich though.

Its nice the seller is showing pictures of the bad spots so people know what they are getting into.
