I was the caretaker of this one for awhile.  Only a few parts have been changed from original assembly line components.  The previous owners who put 5,200 miles on it threw those original parts away - ugh.  The nose was resprayed - Per Ed Ousley - "by the Chevrolet dealer down the street" -  because it was bumped shortly after delivery to Ed Ousley C-P.  In those days, small town dealers had to work together to help each other out, because many could not afford or were large enough to have a body shop.  This Superbird left the dealership without the spare tire or scissor jack, but I was able to find those original pieces from other Birds, and installed them before it left my care.  Some guys cringe at the crooked tail light installation, paint runs, light spots, rusty fender tag, grinding scratches and other factory warts.  But they tell the story of a different era and how quickly these cars were put together to meet a deadline.  It is a spectacularly original car with heavy documentation. It deserves a good home and IMO worth every penny paid by the new owner, and I wish them the best with it.

I was looking at the #88 and saw the EV2 Bird across the room.   I could look at the sheen of the wing under the lights from a distance and thought, "original paint".  

It's a fabulous car.    One of the best of the best.

More than a few years back, NCRS started branching out and started a "Survivor" collector car show - offering and opening it up to more than just Corvettes, to share and enjoy all marques of original unrestored cars.  NCRS tried to copyright the term "Survivor" when it came to collector cars, but they kind of failed...legally.  So they started this Survivor show and gathered judges with knowledge of all makes of cars.  It's a great show.  You have everything in the show from big dollar Shelby GT350s to Gremlins.  Yes, even Gremlins get their day in the sun!  There are different levels of originality awarded at the show.  Zzenith is their top award for 95% or more original as-built condition.  I'll never forget when the team of judges walked up to this car and started looking it over.  One judge crawled under the car and after about 45 seconds came back out and said, "Yep! it's ALL original!"  ...Referring to the original grey primer, paint overspray, exhaust, shocks, and light surface rust on stuff from humidity over time.
