This is the driver side mount on a 69 440. Looks like it is hitting the block? I hear a tapping sound and have looked everywhere can't find the source and ran across this.
Thanks for the help and replies.

I'm thinking that, since that part of the mount is firmly attached to the block, it shouldn't produce any noise.

Tapping noise can be a lifter, fuel pump (stethoscope) or a blown exhaust gasket.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

John thanks for the reply.

I have ruled out the items you listed. Will keep looking for this issue.

Thanks

I have had a tapping sound before but mine was under the car more and turned out to be the transmission mount rubber had died and let it bounce around some

Did ya check all the bolts for tight? Can you check to be certain the block's mount tabs are not cracked or broken?  :scratchchin:

I checked the bolts, and the rubber tranny mount. Seem to be good.
I am going to take of the console cover and check out the shifter mechanism. Sounds like noise is coming from that direction.

Also check the fuel & brake lines for security underneath the car.....these can vibrate/tap on the body & resonate....

....also check your door internal rods/linkage.   I had one that was tapping that drove me nuts for a few weeks to locate it....
