This morning around 11:00 am we had the Blue Angels practicing over our bridge construction jobsite. It was just awesome. Nothing really got done here on site while they were around. These F-18 buzzed the jobsite several times. They waved their wings as they flew over - it was really cool! The sound was incredibly loud when they buzzed us. Enough to make the alarms on cars go off! This weekend, Saturday and Sunday the Blue Angles and other military aircraft will be putting on a show over Jones Beach. I saw two A-10's earlier this morning, but they didn't fly overhead. I'll see if I can get some better pictures tomorrow. It's amazing how you see these fighters and think that you are lucky that they are in your side.

I was thinking If our construction jobsite was an enemy camp/base and we were at war and the F-18 were fully loaded, we probably would have been pulverized! :patriot:

I just saw two P-51's Mustangs fly by! They sure are the only type of Mustangs that I like.  :icon_smile_big:

For those not familiar, Jones Beach is in the south shore of Long Island, New York. I also heard that a Russian Mig "Sequioa" will be doing the cobra manuever too! Can't wait to see that!!

I know exactly were you are. There was or maybe still is a great cafe/deli there in the corner of Chambers and Greenwich were I would stop by in the morning get a cup of coffee and sometimes a bite to eat while we were working at the Battery waterfront.

I had a perfect shot of all 6 F-18's coming overhead the second round, but they are so fast that I only got the tail of the one on the back and it's all fuzzy from trying to keep with them!! :icon_smile_sad:

That's what i'm talking about.  I used to det to elcentro, ca  in the late 80's early 90's and they were based out of there half the year.  We used to seem em all the time and i never get tired of it.  I was stationed in brunswick maine in a p-3 patrol squadron from 96-2004 and they used to use our hangar during the show.  Man i never get tired of seeing Navy jets flyin around or any military jet for that matter.  A-10's are kicka$$ as well, they can do some wicked stuff.
I love it. :patriot: :patriot: :patriot:
thanks for the pics

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

They (the blue angels) have been doing three days of fly-bys for about twenty years here in san fran. as part of "Fleet Week"  I usually go to see them practice for the two days prior to the official airshow... there's a really good seafood restrant on the warf where you can sit and watch them while enjoying a great meal...
I have also done some stereo recordings of them out on muni pier as part of my solo recordings, what a sound when they rip the sound barrier and i love to see the water vapor trail back off their wings, and yes they are very close as i could swear I've been saluted on more then one occasion...  :patriot:

I might go to Republic Airport after work to see if I can walk up to them. I've been told that once they land the pilots hang around the Hornets to talk to people and let kids get photo's taken of them, but I heard it gets very crowded. You can see cars parked along the airport to see them land and taxi to the tarmac where they are stationed.

It's "pea-soup" out here this morning (see pic) in the great south bay and I dont know how long the fog will hang around. Possibly no practice today :icon_smile_sad: We have thunderstorms in the forecast for this afternoon too  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

One picture I got yesterday on the "second round" when they came back in the afternoon after refueling.

Cool pics, Man! They do Apache helicopter training in the unpopulated valley south of my house most of the year, but jets would be more fun to watch.  :yesnod:

About the only other flying thing I've seen recently was the other morning when the city's official loony-bird was out being himself...flying his ultralight over wednesday morning's commuters.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
