Troy, can you take pics from different angles of the interior floors,  trans tunnel, and torsion bar crossmembers.    Also the underhood is of interest, particularly the top bars from the firewall running forward to the rad support.    Does it have an X brace underneath at the forward part of the trans tunnel?

Hey Troy ( or anyone that's there),

Would you please send me any photos that you get?  I need to get all those Petty Engineering details that I can get to make my car more authentic.  PM me if you need to send hi-res pics.
I'd really appreciate it!   :icon_smile_big:

I love the smell of nitro in the morning.

I took several shots of the car as well if people are interested.  It's kind of a laborious process to post them here and I'm only home for a day so it could be a while unless you want them to a pm (Aero426 your inbox is full btw :icon_smile_wink:)

I was there and was talking to the shorter, grey haired gentelman that was displaying the car.  One question I asked him was how much of the original body were they able to retain for the restoration.  He said about 80% which I really found hard to believe considering the car was rebodied as a 73 one point in it's life.  I didn't ask much else, just looked around it a bit.  One thing I did notice was the rear springs were in the factory location.  I have seen at least one correct car (Nichels built) where the springs were relocated inward, onto the rear frame rail for additional tire clearance.  Was the Hamilton car correct in this area?
When I die I want to go like my Grandfather did, quietly in his sleep.  Not screaming like the passengers in his car.

The original owner of our car wanted a Superbird, and went with friends to the 1970 Daytona 500, saying he'd buy whatever color the winner's car was. Hamilton won, and he came home and bought the blue car at the dealer. Lucky us as this is the rarest color on a Superbird, and we love the car.

I know this is a very old post, but if you still have some photos of Pete Hamilton's #40 Superbird I'm appreciate it if you could send me a few. Primarily of the trunk area including the wing supports and the interior including the dash and rear end oil cooler.

I did see 150+ photos of the restoration on the Petty Garage, but I failed to download them so now I'm searching all over and begging.

Thank you for any help and have a great day!,
