I learned a few things, didn't know about the shipping order numbers on the radiator core support and elsewhere (very different from 1969). Is that Galen's book he's using? Wonder what the final costs were to do this?

You bet! The revelation for me was that prior to 1969, the shipping order number was issued before even a VIN was created for a car.
