Now that my heat issue is resolved,  I have. Question on timing.  I set the initial timing at 650 RPM at 10 BTDC. When I accelerate up to 2000 RPM the timing goes up to 40 BTDC.  Going up to 3000 RPM it jumps up to 47 BTDC.  From here it never goes any higher than 47 BTDC.   Isn't this to far?  What should it be and how do I correct it?  Thank you

36 total.  You need to decrease total advance.  Depending on the cam you may want more initial.

Is that with vacuum advance?  It could be up to 50°BTDC with vacuum advance.  Unhook it, then check timing.  As stated, larger cams can use more initial advance.
