Suggestions on where to find the parts I need.

I'm having a tough time trying to find the parts I need, especially from one source if that's possible.  I feel I've been spending way too much time searching.  I need a regular, a flasher, a drivers side green armrest, a battery hold down, a drivers outside remote mirror, and an antenna to start with.  Rock Auto has some parts, AMD has some, Year One has some.

For a 68 charger
thank you

Megapartsusa it coud be a good source
Classic Industries is at this moment one of the biggest

Rockauto just for regular mechanical parts, not performance

AMD products just throught vendors. Buy from them is more expensive

YearOne uses to be expensive too and they overprice the shipping quotes. Unless you wait for their 30% discount codes.

There were many others but SOME of them  have lost their status... Laysons, Hoover Autoparts, Jims auto parts, firestone collectibles

Dalescudashop is good one but kinda limited on their products chart. Owner is member here, nice guy

PG Classics.

One source for our parts needs are unlikely if not impossible.  I keep a XL list of web sites that I use to buy parts and it has over 100 entries in it.  If you need help with an individual part, ask on here and you'll get more info than you can digest.

As mentioned above you will never find all these parts at a one stop shop. I have a list of companies bookmarked that provide parts for our old Chargers.
If you are going to buy anything from year one make sure you sign up for their discount codes which they email to you. Just got an email today for 30% off.

The huge obstacle in my opinion in attempting to purchase from one vendor is that certain items have different levels of quality and correctness.  It will take some efforts to search out the good from the bad as for as the quality of the product and what is your comfort level in spending the dollars for any particular part.

Unless you were to go to a vendor like Classic, no one vendor will carry every single part that you need.  The other issue is that most vendors / manufacturers are facing real issues with material shortages which is affecting product inventories.  Some vendors strive to support their customers with a premium level product while another may offer a more moderate priced piece.  Sometimes, the quality between the two is very slight while for the second part, it is a night and day difference.

Looking at your list, most vendors will not sell a single armrest, you will need to purchase a pair.  Depending upon the year model, your needing a green one, so you may have to purchase a can of paint to achieve the correct color if that is important to you.  Items like the mirror, you will find prices from $50 to $130 for the base mirror depending upon correctness, the adjustable mirror from $90 to $300.  Price does not always dictate that one is better than another, but you can pretty much bet that the cheapest one will likely need to be replaced again in a year or two depending upon the part.

It can be frustrating, but ask the questions and filter out the information to make your best decision.  Just because you find the part today does not mean that it will be available tomorrow and very seldom does the price come down lower.  Good luck and enjoy your car.

Hey Daddy, May I STRONGLY suggest you only buy the parts you need when you need them and DO NOT STOCK PILE "NEW" PARTS. you are unfortunatly going to find about half of the New reproduction parts arent going to fit, dont work, wrong color or are otherwise unsuitable, then it's too late to return and/or the vendor has gone out of business. I have countless stories of paying good money for a repo part only to find it's Crap.

With that said here's the vendors I prefer to work with in addition to those already mentioned:
Detroit muscle
AMS obsolete
PG Classics

Lennard

Try to re-use your rubber gaskets/moldings/seals where possible. Lots of repop doesn't fit and deteriorates within 6 months of being outside of the packaging.

Lennard's right! my glass installer prefered my 50 year old original seal over a new one!

Case in point about buying parts only as you need them... brand new firecore 50 wires, #8 doesn't even come close, #2 almost fits but doen't allow for moving dist. 30 day return policy, I bought them 3 weeks ago

Have you tried to swap around #8 and #1 to check if works? Don't ask why I know it LOL. I got a replacement set once ( not firecore but any generic set ) and was hard to notice which one went where between 1 and 8. They could labeled it wrong.

It's also true 73 and lates sets are longer than earliers on driver side. But it worths to check that if any of the driver side is way longer than should be and could be used as #8 while all the drivers side wires could be set in another order. If boots allows that.

#2 will reach if you get the distributor correctly indexed! The vacuum pod should point out to cylinder 1 or a bit forward, while #1 on cap should be pointing out to alternator. That will make #2 on cap pointing out just right in front of cylinder 2. Maybe will need to deal with the oil pump shaft indexing. If its a MP distributor (Mallory) the oil pump shaft will need to be offset around 80-90 degrees from the factory indexing to get the dist located as factory did on outside. Once again, don't ask how I know it LOL.

Yeah, the distributor is way out of whack!

- Kern dog it is! but I didnt want to molest the timing till I get it running since I know it will fire right up. Once it's running again I'll move the wires to put the VA pot in proper position

- Nacho I might be able to swap multiple wires around to make it work but: 1) that's not why I paid $100 for this set 2) the more I move them  around and try to make them work the more I risk messing them up and not being ale to return them if I can't make it work. Also #2 wire isn't going to "move"... the distributor will to but the VA pot at right position, but will remain tight. in addition the coil wire is too short as well

Good observations all but point is had I bought these 3 years ago in preparation for the "big build" I'd be out of $$
