Initially we were concerned about the passenger side header clearance. Well, it slipped right in!
The drivers side is an issue somewhat.
The steering shaft is in the way. Eric said it is an easy fix. He says that about everything. :icon_smile_big:
Just have to move a few of the tubes... that's all.
I also am going to run a mini starter over to him to make sure that fits before any more modification.

A few shots of those mods...

And some views from above...

Eric said maybe I should get a "clocking" starter. I mentioned this is a Mopar and the starter mounts very close to the block. looking at it further he concluded that the mini starter I brought him this morning should clear fine.  :yesnod:

Good day Kurt  :icon_smile_big:

I see that great strides are being made. I bet your starting to get excited as things come together.

Indeed!
My friend Eric is cranking on my car. I love his ideas and his work.
He has about 7 cars in his shop... each one at different stages.
Yesterday he pointed at each one of those cars and said "See these cars? All I want to do is work on your car because it's the coolest one in here!" He said once we get this stuff mocked up to make sure it fits... things will go fast.
I'll get the engine out to my builder to get the long block assembled. Hopefully he won't take many months to get that done.
The biggest hold up was waiting for those big ticket parts that are all here now... except for my intake.
I called Hogan's Intakes a week ago. Tim told me one more week. Come on Tim!
He called my intake "The Intense Intake!"  :icon_smile_big:

A new revamped fuel cell that fits way better than the first.

Eric figured the first one could work, but it wasn't the right deal.
He drew up a design on a piece of paper and I sent it to Pyrotect Fuel Cells. The guys at Pyrotect said his drawing with dimensions would have been 65 gallons!
So it was shortened up a a bit. The final figure now is 34.5 gallons.

He mocked it up the other day so the exhaust can be sorted out...

KurtfromLaQuinta

Well, Hogan's finally got it finished...

Here's the set up mocked up...

A bit taller than I was hoping for, but Eric already has a plan.

I really wanted it all to fit under the hood.
But nobody makes a kit for a 2nd generation Hemi.
Hence the "universal" Whipple.
It'll still be under the hood, but more like Lee Sicilio's hood... https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/bonneville-berserker/

KurtfromLaQuinta

The first cut...

The filter I found for the butterfly side of the blower.

There still needs to be more cutting for the front drive extension for the blower.
I just got that piece from Whipple and need to run it over to Eric's shop so the front of the engine can get figured out. Finally getting close to having everything mocked up.
Eric has the 3.5 exhaust tubing and mandrel bends ordered. Need to get the whole exhaust mocked up soon too.

KurtfromLaQuinta

Things are still progressing... just slower than I want. Parts are still issues. But...

The hood semi- mocked up...

Here's a fairly current shot of my Daytona next to Joe Machado's Challenger. Distant cousins.
He traded his Daytona clone for this "out of date" ARCA stock car.
Eric "sponsors" his car. That Challenger rips.

Oh. My Daytona is also next to a twin turbo '66 Vette.
But who cares.

KurtfromLaQuinta

The other day a very wealthy client of Eric's came by for a visit.
He brought a friend of his along. A "famous" engine builder... Home | Stanton Racing Engines
Eric said he about "*%$@ his pants when he saw my engine. Especially the intake. He asked where did that come from. And he's never seen anything like that on a 2nd gen Hemi and It was amazing.
Eric told him it was top secret. Then he said it was built by Hogan's.
Thanks Tim Hogan!

Seats are installed in the front...

KurtfromLaQuinta

So we had a dissuasion recently on the back seats.
Eric suggested he could make them out of foam material and upholster them like he did with the Mustang he recently built that was featured in Hot Rod Magazine.
I just wanted them to be simple for thrill rides and have them removable. Eric thought best that they don't have headrest.
His upholster came by and suggested we get a set of the same as the front seats I got form Sparco. Remove the material, cut the headrest off and reupholster with the original material.

The results...

The seats arrived from Summit...

The backs stripped naked and headrest cut off...

Cut, buffed and semi- installed...

KurtfromLaQuinta

Work continues on lots of other things.
The air conditioning unit showed up and Eric is going to mock it up under the dash.
He wants to get the console finished. So I took him the Pioneer stereo unit and the electric window switches. We discussed the shifter, location for "map pockets", cup holders and a slot for cell phones.

Eric told me the other day that I'm his only client that works on his own vehicles.
I'd do this one myself... mostly. It's just it would take me longer than I have time on this earth.  :icon_smile_wink:

KurtfromLaQuinta

Eric spent more than a few minutes to get the steering shaft figured out.
I remember when I ordered my Schwartz Performance chassis kit... Dave told me there might be an issue hooking up the shaft to the rack unit.
When Eric first looked at it he said I'm not sure how I'm going to do that. 🤪
I told him "You say that about everything. But I have complete faith in you."
He did it...

KurtfromLaQuinta

So now that the steering is working, Eric and I had a discussion about the braking system.
We pretty well determined there's no way the master cylinder/ booster setup won't work on the firewall.

After the typical Eric... "I don't have a clue how this is going to work!" 🤪 And after my typical response... "I have complete faith in you Eric." ☺
He searched around online... he's a master at finding unique things there. He found this company...
https://tiltonracing.com/product/600-series-2-pedal-underfoot-assembly-brake-throttle/

With this system he said he can relocate the entire unit.
And as a plus... after talking to them... that company was excellent to deal with. They offered some awesome advice as to what they can do to make it work with everything.
They wanted to know what brakes are on the car, the weight and horsepower. They KNEW what they were doing and were willing to help on it.
Refreshing!
