Anyone recently used factory cam/lifter set? I think I'm loosing a lobe and may be replacing my cam/lifters.  Quality is my concern not application. :scratchchin:
Mopar P4529270 camshaft is what is in there and I'm fine with the grind.

Nacho-RT74

dunno about the quality but for the price they are at this moment I would take any other camshaft with similar grind on half of the price.

just my 2cents

EXCEPT if Monicatti still have them at this price:

not cheap but somehow more reasonable than the rest

I thought that Comp Cams was grinding the old Mopar designs.
Whatever the case, I looked over the Summer at cams for the 383 in my "Jigsaw" project and was disappointed to see how expensive the old style MP cams were. With so many better, more modern cams available, the overpriced, outdated MP cams reminded me of a 78 year old prostitute with prices over double the cost of a 20 something skank.

I wouldn't expect you to understand kern.  :2thumbs:

? ? ?
You wouldn't expect me to understand why the outdated cam designs are so expensive?
Who would? It makes no sense. Modern stuff for a regular price OR a 40 year old design for double the money?
For the record, I do like the '509 and the 280/474. I still have a MP 528 solid in my red car.

Nacho-RT74

The Comp Magnum muscle 222/226 seems to be a good replacement for the one you got. Dunno if they are available three bolts so you could keep the cam gear. It gets a bit more of exhaust, a bit of higher lift and 110 Centerline.

Or the Xtreme energy 218/224

Also found interesting

Howards 720031
Lunati 10230702
Hughes SEH1620BL-12

All 112 Centerline, Lunati being 3 bolts, and Hughes can be ordered 3 bolts.

( sorry, I'm bored LOL )

ACTUALLY after check all the prices and considering the MP comes with lifters, the Monicatti price is on the right track. Not the rest of MP sellers around thought... but still dunno if "moparsupercenter" price is real or outdated.

I find no "Quality complaints" online so I think it will be okay. Thanks for checking for me Nacho.

Great!

BTW, the smaller of the Summit seems to be a good replacement too. But once again, one bolt.

Imo, if you are looking for an old school purple grind. Call jim at racer brown... spec for spec, his will outperform the purple and is a higher quality cam.

Actually last engine rebuild I had a 6BBL. I went to buy the 3 bolt cam with my Mopar gear/chain set and Mancini only had 1 bolt gear set so I ended up with a P445783AE as the grind is the same. Interestingly Larry Shepard's book on 6BBL points out that the 6BBL cam has less slant on the grind to better cope with the expected 6BBL lifter flogging. Pre internet all I had was the M.P. B/RB and my FSM so all was built to Mopar blueprint.
I had to add aluminum heads to deal with ping and sold the 6BBL to add A/C so now run CH4B intake, HP exh. manifolds with a Mopar 145K T.C. to 3.23 rear gear. I can't care less about some other aspect of some other cam's cost or changes. It took a poke from Nacho to recall I wanted the P4529270AE but installed the P445783AE so that's the target. All of this is stemming from the fact that until I found DodgeCharger.com and the sticky on zinc in oil I was driving daily without it and the cam suffered. I figure I can pull the rad./condenser and front off the 440 and intake in bay, then replace the cam/lifters.

unfortunatelly Monicatti's price on the Magnum one ( single bolt 783 cam ) is the allmost the same than the rest of vendors.

Now will be nice to know the reality of the "moparsupercenter" website

Rockauto had a good option by Melling... wow!!

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=8308860&cc=1079096&jsn=944

but out of stock on kit form...

Camshaft alone:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=8315112&cc=1079096&jsn=950

on $116... says straight replacement for the Magnum one... original 3512907 and superceded 4071002. Which is the same P4452783

compairing with the "real" specs of the Magnum one:

440: Stock Hydraulic P4452783
Intake Duration, Nominal   268°                      Exhaust Duration, Nominal   284°
Intake Duration @ .050”   208°                            Exhaust Duration @ .050”   221°
Intake Lobe Centerline   113° ATDC            Exhaust Lobe Centerline   117° BTDC
Lobe Separation Angle   115°                            Overlap   46°
Intake Opens   21° BTDC                                    Exhaust Opens   79° BBDC
Intake Closes   67° ABDC                                    Exhaust Closes   25° ATDC
Intake Lift   .450”                                            Exhaust Lift   .458"

Note: original 440, Commando, 383 Magnum etc. high-performance cam

Note: 208/220° @ .050” (R. Karkashian)

Note: as installed on 113° centerline per Chrysler

I think the Melling is the winner by the price, being the closer/replacement to the Magnum

or the smaller of the Summit ones on $80

I just put the Summit branded cam #6401 in a 383. Only $80 and I could not be more pleased with it.
