Over the weekend, I picked up a cool 1969 Charger out of West Texas. I seem to find mostly 1968 Chargers....but this is the first 1969 since my survivor R6 Charger was totaled Dec 24, 2018. It has been sitting in a field since the late 1970's but it's really quite solid. It was a 383-2bbl/auto car but I didn't get a drivetrain. My paint detailing buddy said it looks like a toasted marshmallow and he's right...hence the name "S'more"

The interior was mostly there but quite sun baked. Also, something had been living in it. Several bones and lots of nests...

Cool that there is still this kind of stuff out there just laying around
Looks like a farmers field

How did you find such a car ?
Was it advertised ?

Thank you for posting!
That looks like snow on the ground...You mentioned West Texas? They get snow?
Hard to imagine a car like that ends up in a junkyard. It had to have blown the engine sometime when these cars weren't worth much, like in the early 80s ?

The car wasn't advertised. The guy actually found me and mentioned the car. The guy I bought it from had purchased the car in the late 1970's almost exactly as you see it in terms of completeness. He bought it without an engine or trans and just never did anything with it. It sat on a farm the entire time. It's never been inside! Unfortunately the hood has been off the car most of its life and just sitting in the elements so its pretty rough.

yes. NW Texas gets snow!

No kidding. I still can't believe how similar your charger is!! You need to start a thread on it!

It really doesn't smell as bad as most that I haul home. I don't think the animal had been living in it recently. Or maybe it doesn't smell bad since it's cold and the inside is so dry?? But it is still gross. I hauled out a 55 gal bag of nesting material, dirt, and rat poop...maybe 40-50 pounds worth.

White on white not that common! By chance, white top? 3x white would be something special.

3x white might have been too much. Will look great with a black top. Hope you are restoring back to as-is, column shift and all?

It is a St Louis car. The paint will be polished but left as is. I'm debating between finding a cheap 383/440 or maybe a late model hemi. If I go with a 383/440 I'll leave it column shift. If I go late model hemi, I will probably use a rebuilt A518 that I have sitting in the shop.

I do seem to do that a lot. Lol. The body on this one HAS TO STAY SIMPLE for two reasons
1. Cool uniform patina is hard to come by
2. My wallet can't handle another major project.

Cool find! You should build this one Roadkill style, put a driveline in it,go through the fuel and brake systems, clean up the interior, and go on a roadtrip!

TexasStroker

Nice score!

Here in Amarillo we had our first snow right before Halloween (2nd year in a row) and as of the last batch a few weeks ago we had more total snow than Albany, Bismarck, and Chicago combined.  That has probably changed now, but you get the idea.  Christmas Day and Saturday we were sitting in the 60s with surprisingly light wind!

If things get back to normal you'll have to bring it back for Chryslers in the Canyon, or Chargers in the Canyon  :coolgleamA:  Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for it!

Texas STROKER- this Charger came from the Pampa area.

I threw some wheels and tires on it and cleaned out the cabin. So far, I have filled three full 55 gal contractors backs with rat poop and nesting material. So gross...

Then I called my detailing buddy over and he did a couple test panels to figure out what kind of buffing pad and compound to use.

Oh man, looks really good cleaned up a bit!

You also got really lucky with the lead.  There is a guy up there that typically winds up with anything around town...can't complain as he does a really nice job restoring them, but he has had some insanely lucky scores.

You have 68s and 69s covered, now you need a 70. No Charger collection is complete without one. I extended my collection to include 71s too.

I agree. I have been looking for a while for a 1970 Charger in a cool color...hopefully patina'd.
