As far I know Engle is long gone since... Maybe 2010 or 11

this was the last camshaft chart I saved when they were still on line... and their very well known and traditionals K54s and K56s are not anymore there... As far I recall they needed to be custom ordered on those last days of engle

Help bro?

I have a 1969 Dodge Charger that is overcamed. Way too much top end and very sluggish on takeoff. Idling is rough and not much vacuum for braking. This is the build: I will start at the top of the motor,750 Holley carb,Used single plane intake painted nice,Chrome valve covers, chrome air cleaner,452 heads with a 3 angle valve job and hardened seats for unleaded premium,509 cam and lifters, pushrods, timing chain, pistons 10 to 1 compression so you can still drive around town on unleaded premium, pistons Keith Black, with there rings, chrome pan,Crank turned 20 and 20,rods rebuilt.

I want to make this more drivable. More power at bottom end. What grind do I need and do you have anything to help achieve that?

Thanks

None of those grinds match the K-56 I got back in 2006 or so. I found the old "MoPar" grinds only in the AMC section the last time I looked at something from Engle.  I had the K56 grind on a single pattern cam on 110 degree lobe centres in a 440, remaned 452 heads and with headers, it was a good cam till it went flat.  The Lunati 60303 (10230703) was a noticeable upgrade over the Engle, and it's still available.

This going into a 440 I'm guessing? I'd check retainer to guide clearance (I didn't) and get something from someone else and not look back

as I told, they listed a new grind list just one year or two before they were out of bussines, but you still could get the old grind specs as a custom camshaft per request

You missed the most important bit of info.
W H A T engine?
318 ? 360? 361? 383? 400? 413? 426? 440?

With 452 heads is definitelly a Big Block. Having 10:1 CR the camshaft options is wide, so the displacement won't be the main deal really.

Aaaaand... he states is a 383 just right before your reply.

I guess the 509 cam running is the MP one with 108* LSA? They made an upgrade of that cam on a more streetable ( better iddle and vacuum ) 114* as far recall, but maybe still the long duration could be not satisfier for him.

Engle Cams is long gone these days...    unfortunately. They were sold to another company back in 2009-2010 and they changed their grinds (shown by the chart above) but they would still grind their older 'heritage' grinds if you asked them to. Soon after the Engle Cams ended up going bully-up

I used to run Engle Cams in some of the customer cars I built with excellent results - these days many of these independent car parts makers simply cant compete with large conglomerates
