Hi all,

I have a radiator in my car that I dont know the origins of, but I would like to get a fan shroud for it.  I have a 70 w/ 383/ 4spd. and it calls for a 26"

Heres the numbers off the radiator:

2898072

Someone once told me it was a 71 C body radiator, but who knows

thanks for the help

68 c body with a 440 auto trans & a/c
you need 2998956 it came in 70 B/E bodys with 383 , 440 or HEMI. Auto or manual trans cars with Max Cooling package. Or if you get really lucky you can pull one out of a 440/HEMI Superbird

Thanks for the info everyone.  Since I had this one re-cored and its running really cool right now, Im not going to change it out (just yet).  What I would like to know is how to go about getting a fan shroud for it.  Are all 26" shrouds the same?

Thanks again for all your help!

hit the swap meets and find one that comes close and trim it.  you could make one out of aluminum too.

Tom,

There appears to be two different shrouds listed for 1968 440 C-Bodies.  The two numbers I have are:
2524647 (although this one may have been for Imperial (Y-body) only)
2785435

I can't tell you why either one is specific for that particular radiator, or if another shroud would work just fine.  I did look up the size of fan blade used in that application, and it appears there could have been both an 18" and an 18-1/2" fan used.  It could be that the radiator was positioned just slightly differently in the yoke for different body styles, necessitating the need for different shrouds.  So, the shroud number might only work if you were using that radiator in a '68 C-Body.

Your best bet might be to order up a shroud from someplace like YearOne, Paddock, etc. that has a very good return policy.  That way, you can try one on for size and send it back if it doesn't work.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to ya!

Gene,

Great information! Thanks for the input.  I will take a look at those numbers and see what I find.  I will definitely have to keep an eye on the offset and fan size.
