Does anyone have information on the Custer Mfg Co who made the scissor jacks for the Superbird and Daytona? I'm looking for any documentation, company history, company logos, mag ads etc on the company.

There are plenty of Custer jacks out there. Many (most) have subtle differences from the one you want; slightly different top piece thickness, side support thickness differences, screw differences, connecting rivet differences, etc.

The available number of jacks does let you find the correct handle, with the factory ghosts visible from factory pressing.

Hey All,
If I'm not dreaming, I remember a mention in one of the DSAC newsletters (decades ago) about the scissor jacks being reproduced by Custer Jack for a limited run.  I can't find that issue or article.  Does anyone else remember this?  The only reason I do is because I didn't order one and wish I had.  Ideas?

Hi Folks,                       17 October 2020

Does anyone have a photo, or a good description, of the scissor Jack handle for a Daytona?

We have our jack and two handles; don't know which handle is correct; the handles are black, the jack is red and assume no difference between a jack for a 440 or Hemi. The jack we have has very stout side plates and is in very good condition.

We understand the jack's for the Super Bird are Black and Daytona's are red (we learned that from this site).

Photos of the two handles are attached. Any help will be much appreciated. One of those handles probably belongs to the 73 Power Wagon we had with the "Snow Fighter" package. Which we bought in 72.

Thank you in advance folks.

Based on your pic, the lower "angled" handle/ends is the most common that I've seen in Daytona's over the decades, the straight handle/ends is more common to a Superbird, I say common meaning majority, as I've seen both types in both wingcars as well... as to why? who knows? vendor supply?, vendor change in design between 69 to 70? possibilities are endless, personally I'd use the lower one in your pic for the Daytona

Thanks Mike,                     18 October 2020

Appreciate your expert input. The only reason we can think of for having two handles is one came from the Daytona and the other from the 73 Dodge W200 we bought in the fall of 72.

Thanks again.

The scissor jack has knob on the top

What hole was in the car that the knob went into when you were to use this jack at the front ?

A guage hole in the frame rail in the area of or slightly behind the torsion bar crossmember.  There are round several holes there.
