What? Wow...Wasn't the Charger supposed to be a "luxury" sports car in 1966-1967? Oh well, exports, I guess they can be weird...

About 40 years ago, in a wrecking yard near Capac Michigan, there was a light blue first gen Charger that was a 3 on the tree. It had a console with no shifter in it too. If I had only known to take a picture.

I bought a '67 440 column auto w/CAR for a parts car ~30 years ago

Not many, other than the one in my garage.

Personally, I prefer the column shift on any automatic car.  Always felt the auto on the floor was for the 4 spd wannabes.

I wouldn't actually say this particulary was made for export, but maybe private exportation. On those years Spain was under a dictatorship.

UNLESS it came to Spain by some USA militar on some of the bases Franco allowed to USA or some diplomatic stablished in Spain

And I guess just 67s could be like that, because 66 the console is an integral part of the interior

I feel sorry for 1st Gens, they don't the respect they deserve. I think they were actually more expensive than 2nd and 3rd Gens weren't they??

I do like the interiors but that roof.... :hah:
I'd take a 66-67 Coronet over a same year Charger though.

A383Wing

in 66, the 3spd manual transmission on the column was standard with the 318 only, 779 made total

in 67, the automatic transmission shifter on the column was standard with any engine, if you wanted the floor shift, it was extra cost.
Also in 67, the console and buddy seat were extra cost options as well
In 67, you could get a 4spd without console or buddy seat

My 67 Charger is by far the nicest riding Chrysler muscle car I've ever been in. The car has a very solid feel and very quiet and smooth ride.

It could have went to Spain as a enlisted military personal vehicle. In around 1968 my father took a early Pontiac over there. He was stopped made to pay a fine for what he did not know because he did not understand the police. They made him tape half the headlight bulbs over too.

That’s what I said about how could arrive to Spain.

About the tail lights. In Europe rear turning lights must be amber and separated from brake lights circuit. Maybe was due something like that.

About headlights... in Europe headlights got lenses to light up more to outside of the road to save the oncoming cars to be blinded by headlights. So there are left hand drive headlights to drive in Europe and right hand drive headlights to drive in UK.

LHD cars headlights on european cars againts a wall

and the area to cover over the road

This is not anymore needed when driving a Classic car with the correct Historic license plate.

I have known when going from one side to the other of the EuroTunnel, you need to attach a decal available over headlights to correct this. I'm not sure but maybe French and Brititsh members could know better this.

It is a fuzzy memory, but I believe there was a filler plate in the console where the shifter would protrude. If someone has a 1966 parts book possibly it could be referenced.

1966 Charger, Coronet 500, Satellite & a c-body or two had bucket seats and console STANDARD
they all had a V8 & column mounted 3-speed manual transmission STANDARD
but since these cars were more expensive "top-of-the-line" models, very few were actually built without an automatic transmission (or upgraded engine & 4-speed)
