Was all engines in 1970 painted orange in the Charger or were the 383 painted Turquoise?
Thanks,
Kevin K.

Just HiPo engines were orange. A 383 Magnum would be one of them
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

So a 383 2 barrel would be blue where the 383 4 barrel would be orange correct?

in a '70 Charger:
383 2bbl = Chrysler blue (not turquoise)
383HP 4bbl = Street HEMI orange

1970 Charger - ALL 383 4bbl (N-code) are 383HP orange engines with HOLLEYs

for 1970 there are Corporate blue 383 4bbl (with CARTERs) in other cars: ALL C-bodies, Barracudas (non-'cuda), Coronet 500s (non-Super Bee), Challenger SEs (non-R/T), Satellites (non-Road Runner), etc.

Even base N code cars were were orange.. ...     I guess they were limited by how far up the alphabet they knew, but bench seat and orange engine was good enough for us....   :2thumbs:
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

As been mentioned, there was 383 4bbl non HiPo. Not on 70 Charger thought, yes on earliers.

See the note at the bottom of that chart.  I've seen more than one 70 with an AC 383 4bbl that was turquoise.  There was a feature E body in one of the magazines, a survivor, turquoise.
Mopar forever!

in an attempt to make the "note" short - it is confusing
the same plant assembled all of the non-HEMI big blocks (Trenton, MI) 1969 is the last model year for "turquoise" & 1970 is the first model year for "Corporate blue" engines
50 year old, oil & heat soaked/cycled "Corporate blue" may appear dirty/burnt or "turquoise"

"H"-code - 1969 383 4bbl 330hp = turquoise
"N"-code - 1970 383 4bbl 330hp = Corporate blue

the "never say never" idiom is too widely used for any/every scenario - 1970s car production was big business, it wasn't a free for all/anything goes atmosphere that everyone dreams their car was constructed under.

"kevink"
trunk - is there a question?
the trunk pan was originally painted body color & appears to be missing the drain plugs

engine - a specific question?
appears to have a "log" exhaust manifold (383 2bbl) on the passenger side & a 4bbl air cleaner from a van
is the Charger a "L"-code 383 2bbl or "N"-code 383 4bbl car?
