Doesn't matter much..... it's an engineering thing, but once the interference fit contracts around the pin on the the pin end...... it becomes a tensile strength of the steel issue for failure and highly unlikely.

We've run 'em 6,800 rpm for years without issue on pressed pin 451 applications..... YES, we ran 'stock' LY Rods and press fit on the Pin-Ends with .001" 'pin fit' in the ARIAS 7751S Slugs..... never had a problem

Actually, that Rod exhibits some very nice thicknesses at the other end where the Beam Section widens to engage the Big Ends...... THAT, is where you worry about thickness ?
and remember....
an I-Beams strength is in the thickness of the Beams..... the middle just holds them together !
Only wimps wear Bowties !
