I have my father's 73 SE that I have started on as a project car. I had saw a 73 on ebay and decided it would a good parts car. Dumb move. After traveling to NY to pick-up the car, I got it to the shop and after major examination, found that very little is of use for my car. All fenders and Quarter panels are in horrible shape, the interior is has very little for me to get from it that I have not already taken, and the best parts to save would be the hood, maybe the driver's side door, and the engine still runs. I don't want to get rid of the engine because it's a 400 and my dad has a 360. I don't know if this engine is worth anything but I figure if I keep the 360, I would like to sell the engine instead of letting some one crush the car I just don't know what it's worth to anyone? Exactly what info will I need to give you guys a better understanding of what engine it is? I really don't want to sell the car piece by piece but I'll just strip it and probally give it to the junk man. Any help I can get is appreciated.

Thanks, DRE

a parts car is more than just the skin of the car.  You will find a need for a few things I am sure once you start taking stuff apart and then it breaks when you try and put it back together.  Little things like, glove box lock, dash and cluster parts.   That ebay car of yours might come in handy.  hold onto it till you get your dads car done, then part it off and sell it one by one, let someone buy it , or give it a way.  But wait till you get your project done before you do.

and best of luck.

I bought this parts heap a few years ago, see thread below. Since you didn't post any pics it's hard to give an opinion. Do you have an ebay link? I parted the car and ended up keeping everything. As the other members mentioned there are lots of valuable parts that are not reproduced. You never know when a piece of the window regulator system will break, or some other odd ball part that's not made or reproduced anymore. I did use several parts for my 72 and can use the entire seat belt system for my 71 which was missing. If you have the storage space part out and save what you can.
The 400 was nothing special, but if it runs that's a plus. If you still have the tranny that is probably a 727. Combined I would think they would be worth several hundred bucks. tough to tell in today's market.

I agree
I built My 73 with no parts car.
This was My first restore and I found that I needed tons of parts.
I spent hundreds on used parts That are not available new, Plus being able to look at how things go back together can save a lot of time.
As for the 400, That's what I am running and it is a very strong engine, I put stage six aluminum heads with a 440 intake and six PAC holly's, It's not the most popular and is not worth a whole lot of money But if built right, will be strong and dependable.
Can You post pics of the car?
Everyone said Mine was crusher material but I restored it in My garage.
