Will you be making reinforcements for areas like in the corners of the grill. Of course for the inside on both sides.

I can certainly work on that, it should be fairly straight forward to make an overlay part to reinforce those corners.

I love all the suggestions, keep 'em coming!  :2thumbs:

Those are some great parts you are working on!  Since no one has asked the million-dollar question, I guess I will.  Would you be able to reproduce the center section of '68 and '69 grilles?  How about entire grilles?

Thanks again!

hemi-hampton

The million $ question is would it be possible to make a entire 70 Charger Grille :o :scratchchin: :shruggy: :yesnod: :2thumbs:

Dano 1

That is indeed a million-dollar question. Is it technically possible to create an entire grill or grill sections? Yes, BUT you'd need a large format printer and it would involve a ton of development time. In the case of 68/69 grills the quality would likely not be as good as the reproductions currently available. The '70 grill would be a major undertaking, but again technically possible.

What printing CAN very feasibly do is reproduce smaller sections of the grills that would make repairing an original part a more economical proposition than buying a repro unit. 3D scanning helps a ton to reverse engineer complex parts like grills but still takes a lot of development time to process scan data and turn it into 'real' CAD models for printing.

Thanks for answering!  I wish you success!

What about a improved bulkhead connector.

What about a improved bulkhead connector.

That's an interesting idea, I would probably try to use an off-the-shelf aerospace or motorsports connector to handle the actual electrical portion but you could definitely use a 3D printed part to integrate the chosen connector into the factor firewall opening.

Here's a new powder coating for plastic:

Cool find, I haven't heard of that process/coating before but it's definitely worth looking into. Right now my focus is on producing parts and leaving any finishing up to the customer but down the road that'd definitely be something to consider.

Despite the lack of update I have been continuing to work on getting this idea up and running. Covid, moving houses, and the day job have all played havoc on my attempts to get things set up but I've finally gotten the website and store launched.

https://www.nextgendesignsnc.com/products

I'm starting with a few parts that I've tested and installed on my own car so I know they're ready to go.

Console Gauge Pod - Mounts to the factory console using high strength magnets and holds two 2-1/6" gauges. Requires no drilling or modification to mount and integrates into the stock interior really nicely.

Rear speaker adapter - Adapts the factory rear defroster holes to a 5x7 speaker bolt pattern allowing you to mount dual 5x7 speakers in the rear package tray without drilling or modifying anything.

Rear console reinforcement - Mounts under the rear part of the console that is frequently damaged to reinforce and serve as the basis for any crack repairs.

Headlight door stop repair - Left and right side versions repair broken headlight door stops and return the doors to their factory alignment when closed.

I have more parts in the works that I'll be adding to the store as they're tested and proven out. Feel free to send me requests or ideas as well I'm always looking for more parts to try out and have done a few custom jobs for people.

"Reinforcements for broken grill areas" what about the nose cone ????

Love the stop tabs!
I've been fabbing them out of metal and bonding them in for years. That's a great alternative!  :2thumbs:

That's why engineers shouldn't do marketing I guess  https://www.nextgendesignsnc.com/products

Do you mean the grill center section with the louvers/gills? That's on the list as well, the grill parts are pretty complex and take time to model and get right.

YES

Hmmm, wonder if it would be possible to do a cup holder pod?  Would probably need some super strong magnets for that

Dano 1

ACUDANUT - I have the grill out of my car right now and plan on 3D scanning portions of it for repair parts so stay tuned.

A cup holder solution is for sure on my list as well, as I've been driving my car more and more the lack of cupholders has been driving me nuts.

Consider 70 Chargers plastic grill area above the headlight doors are prone to droop/sag down a bit over time. A glue on above reinforcement plate to correct or prevent sag would be very useful.

with every body having a cell phone glued to there hand 18 hours out of the day everyday you may need to customize some kind of holder for that? I rarely use my phone so wouldn't need it but everybody else does. LEON.

funknut

Can you scan/make the lower grill ears/corners?  The ones that tuck in behind the bumper. I would think there's a decent number of folks that need them (including me!).

Yes how about those Dano? I was going to machine a set out of aluminum. I think everybody should have a spare set! lol  Seriously though. I'd buy a couple of sets for sure.
