the font is all wrong
there is stuff missing that should be there - including some of the codes on the fender tag & the date on the door sticker is WAY off   :smilielol:

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

I wonder how much of the original car still remains.  I would love to own an A4 4-speed Daytona but as others have posted, better to have stated original motor is lost than to fake it.

A back in the day photo...

Call that a day 2 picture ?   :icon_smile_wink:

You can see some of the silver under the light blue, where the nose is bent.

the seller's own photos show the date differences

G15 on the fender tag, but not on the most likely earlier report

I thought the tag looked off as well but didn't catch that the earlier decode was different

my above comment was in regard to the FAKE b'cast sheet  :eek2:

the vast majority, YES - "ALL" seems to always find an exception

Sgt Superbird

I have a dumb question... I'm assuming Galen's report would have had a picture of the fender tag. (I'm assuming one was present, since he decoded it.) Why would someone ADD a code? Is it to show the tag is a repop? I guess I'm missing the logic.  :shruggy:

Galen would decode anything you'd pay him to decode (picture/hand written/anything) & not mention problems/issues
an evaluation was another service & additional $$

other than the VIN tag & apparent "9B400565" stamped 4-speed - nothing above authentically describes/details the Daytona (except maybe the ~35 year old picture)

Sgt Superbird

Yes, stupid me... That was only a fender tag decoding and not an eval/inspection report.  :brickwall:

Is it for sure that it is a restamped block?

anyone have a 1969 HAMTRAMCK stamped engine or transmission with the open top "4"?

Mine is on the lift right now, I will check.

Checked my Hamtramck Charger R/T. 9B308847 the "4" is closed at the top. I have owned this since 1980 and known of it since 1976. So fairly confident the stamps are original.
You know you are vintage when someone says, "Back in the day", and you can dispute their facts.

I've found just the opposite... most Daytonas did not have a door tag originally, based on observing the pattern of unrestored cars.  Many restorers / owners add repop tags to cars which didn't have them, thinking they were removed at some point.  From what I've seen, the presence or absence of the door tag is not tied to the VIN either.

Sioux Falls...  Jives with my buddy's remembrance of selling it to a "guy in the Dakotas" back in '76.
