The fender scoops had the wording Jo-Ad on the underside. And again tried out the web in a search for another wingcar related vendors. And found this company that did plastic injection from 1957.They possibly could have been the vendor that creative used for the wing scoops

Maybe Gene can chime in here, but there was a gentleman me and him talked to that knew where the fender scoops were made, and it was in Detroit area. As I recall there was still someone who worked there a few years ago that was around when they were doing the fender scoops.

Yep, Jo-Ad Industries is the original manufacturer of the scoops.  Danny and I (and FJMG separately) have spoken with a gent who has actually been to Jo-Ad, even though it was a few years back.  They repaired his fender scoops on-the-spot, and the old timer who was working the front desk knew exactly what the scoops were for.  I think they are still in business.

IIRC, I posted pictures of the underside of my fender scoops somewhere in the thread of my car's restoration, and from what I remember the markings are the same as what Dave just posted.

Hi guys, does anyone know if this is the same company that made the wings as well? I had my Daytona at a local car show this past weekend and a guy told me that his friend's family owns the company that made both the scoops and the wings. He had said that his friend made a comment to the effect that "I wish we would have kept those molds that we used to make the wings back then". I believe the guys last name was Smith, but I am not positive. I told him that our club(s) would be very interested in talking with his friend about the manufacturing of these special parts. He was supposed to come back by with the guys phone number but didn't.      :icon_smile_question:

If they do plastic injection then I don't see how they made aluminum (especially extruded) wings. What do I know though - I'm a rookie in all this wing car stuff.  :P

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Hi Dave!

The Dart/Daytona paperwork came in Friday's mail. THANKS a million for sharing it with me! This is an awesome document! Do you care if I put it in an upcoming newsletter?

Sue
Hi Dave:

That was a wonderfully interesting story about Mr. McGill getting the Vin numbers from the race tracks for Chrysler! Do you care if I use this little blurb in the October newsletter?

If you do get an interview with this fascinating man please write up a story about it for the newsletter. The members will really enjoy that kind of info!

Thanks!

Sue

Hey, thanks for clearing that up guys. Again I can't remember the name of the company that the guy had told me but it had to be either the wings or the scoops they made, not both.  :2thumbs:
