AM/FM for a 1968 B-body was an "over-the-counter" accessory and/or dealership installed ONLY - it was not available factory installed

WOW! I never knew they were available in '68! You'd be the first kid on the block to have FM and maybe have a station or two to tune-in depending where you lived.

Pretty strange to imagine that AM was the dominant radio format. Nowadays, AM seems to be primarily news, talk radio and religious programming.

Last year, at The Ridgely Show, there was a 65 Monaco with a factory AM/FM.  Blew me away, as the FM gets more rare the further you go back in time.   The early and mid 60's was the beginning of the shift to FM domination.   It has an interesting history.  I remember tuning the AM in our '66 Cadillac and having trouble singling out a station in the early 70's.  FM fixed that.
