Interference on Assembly

'68 Charger R/T
Holley Street Dominator Inlet and Aluminum Water Pump.
Trying to install the AC Compressor and on passenger side it bumps into a rib on the inlet.
On the drivers side, the post that the power steering pump attaches to stops the compressors front mount before the rear mount can align with mounting holes.  I hope the pictures load in order but we will see.  The 1st pic shows both holes not lining up.
The nexr 2 pics are on the passenger side.
The next 2 pics are meant for the drivers side.  1 shows the bolt hole and the next shows where the steering pump attachment boss stops the front flange of the compressor from moving any farther.
I have some thoughts but hoping for a suggestion better than mine.

Do you have a small hand held unit other than a mini grinder.  Which is my 1st plan but concerned about damaging expensive parts.

I would grind the stiffening rib on the intake manifold just enough to clear the bracket. For such jobs I prefer a rotary burr in a drill or die grinder. (cheap at HF)

I would also have to shorten the post on the other side. The one that the power steering pump pivots on.

I had the same problems with the performer 383  intake... yes, that one what looks so close to to the stock one... but still had to cut down one of the reinforce ribs AND mill down one of the coil brackets provisions ( yes, the Performer 383 intake is taller than the stock by a half of inch maybe ) to fit the compressor brackets.

Sure I just paid $75 for an used one and I was to paint it on the stock engine color, so didn't hurt me to cut those areas

I don't imagine Holley expected someone to be running A/C when they designed that manifold.  :scratchchin:

And still these issues will change with every year, because the brackets disposition for the compressor changed.

I think the Edelbrock intake version of this one ( can't recall the name right now ) is physically more friendly though. But I have read it doesn't perform really good as intended :shruggy:

( editing... Edelbrock Streetmaster, but ribs are the same, just the Vacuum port and EGR are more like stock )
