68 Charger R/T with AC
Attached picture of AC Compressor.
I was thinking of putting it on, BUT.

When I turn the Pulley wheels by hand, the front clutch plate turns with it (No 12v ).
Is it supposed to do that?
I thought the pulleys turn but the clutch plate doesn't.

Is there an easy check to see if clutch is shot?

Thank You, John

Update.
I held the pulley stationary and wiggled the clutch a little back and forth.
In a minute, it freed up.
Ten years of sitting on a bench made it a little stiff.
The pulley turns freely and the clutch doesn't move.
Absolutely no wobble.

Unlike transmission clutches, A/C clutches are metal-to-metal steel and will rust when sitting for an extended period. A few on/off cycles will clean the rust from the clutch surfaces.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thank you John
I was looking at putting the compressor on the engine but I can barely lift it.
I think the vacuum diaphragm on the distributor is in the way of the rear bracket, that crosses behind the compressor.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Should have plenty of room..  although this is a 69....

I realize the 68 has a large cast iron rear bracket but still should have no trouble
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

Chris
Here is a picture showing my rear bracket.
What you don't see is there are 3 more brackets to nail down the compressor.
2 Like yours and another cast one.
I don't know how I am going to put that compressor on as I can barely move it on the bench.

I think '68 was the last year for the cast rear bracket.
