So as I march along fixing little stuff that's been bothering me for 15 years I come to window washer.
- Get everything hooked up, clean ground and connections and no workie
- run jumper wire from + side of battery to washer motor (with brown wire still hooked up) washer motor doesn't run but horn beeps! (scared me to death!)
- disconnect power wire and run power to post and washer motor runs fine (see photo)

Now obviously I need to start from the switch and shoot wires but see any easy explanation for that?? wiring harness is unmolested

Could you honk the horn from the steering wheel before you started fixing things ?
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

ok... first feed just the washer pump from batt to check if works. Pump should be of course correctly grounded. They usually get a riveted wire to the pump case up to one of the washer reservoir mounting screws. ( nevermid just read better and you already did and tested good )

as 70 sublime mentioned... have your horn ever worked from the steering wheel ?...  I remember you told didn't know the horn relay was mounted on fuse box.

some wires were turned around between 71/74 cars at bulkhead... horn, washer pump, brake prop warning switch are the first it comes to my mind specially between 71/73 changin even between forward light harness and engine bay harness.

Horn wire is originally green with red trace ( coming out from relay ). It worths the try check the cavity position on back of bulkhead and confirm those on engine side harness, specially horn and washer pump ( brown ).

have you ever try to wash your windshield and get the horn ? LOL...

Ah Nacho to the rescue!
- 70 Sublime Horn never worked, was missing the relay, installed that yesterday as well and got it working, next project was washer...and this issue
- copy on bulkhead connectors
- lol I did try but horn doesn't wash windows and window washer doesn't honk horn...only if I run power direct to brown + wire

ok... my next thought!!!

ON MY CAR which was assembled in Vzla still being a 74 and getting the washer wire straight to the driver inner fender location, got an extension wire to passenger side because FOR WHATEVER REASON in Vzla 74s used a bag like SW mounted on passenger side inner fender. ( like CC cars but being a vinyl bag ).

Will worth to check where on 72s is the washer wire... headlight harness or engine bay harness. IT COULD BE the washer wire its spliced into the horn wiring for some reason ? the plug on the washer wire is not the correct one... it should be the tipical single packard plastic plug. So the pump wire definitelly has being "handled". Check how many wires do you have on each horn plug

horns sucks way more power so that could be the reason why it horns but not pumps out water when feeding "both" at the same time ( when you jumped it with wire plugged on pump ).

but wondering yet if you ever had pumped water into windshield before this?
