So if you were planing on a day trip that was about 200 miles one way what spare parts would you bring along ?
Standard tools flat screw driver , philips screw driver , vise grips , 1/2" 9/16" wrench ?
Stuff to change flat tire

What parts have any of you guys had to change on the road ?
What parts did you need and not bring along ?

And a can of gas just in case  ;D

I always carry my "get home pack:
- Spare ECU
- Volt regulator
- Ballast resistor
- Jumper wires (to hot wire batt to coil if I'm in trouble)
- Wires, connectors, hardware
- Multimeter, vice grip zip ties
- mini tool kit
- Triangle

To answer what have I had to do?
- Multi times bypassed ignition when car was dying and misfiring just to get it home
- Adjusted front brakes after they locked up
- tore into dash after it was dying (had cluster out, didn't tighten wires to amp Gage)
- Helped a broke down Duster guy at a show, his ECU died

Amazing how once upon a time we just got in these cars and drove them. I'm the same now; what if something goes wrong?

Funny... when I said a couple months ago in another topic that I'm putting a 2018 hellcat drive train in my '68 so I don't have to bring any spare parts and tools with me on road trips, I was laughed at and told that old school drive trains are just as dependable and no spare parts and tools are needed. :2thumbs:

I bring the same thing as in my daily drivers. My wallet and cell phone.

A small fire extinguisher should be on the list.  Anything else taken along with will save you some time if problems occur but a fire extinguisher could save your car.
My first Charger was a Stock Car.

If you have Petronix, a spare distrubutor with Petronix installed for an easy swap. Ask me why I do this now! LOL! WINGNUT

Yes Lennard you have a new drive train in your car but at the rate you are going ( I mean Chris is going  ;D ) it might just be an antique by the time you drive it

I'm still young and it will be on the road this year, and I'll be driving it trouble free until the day I die.

I have AAA like others probably do but to me that is a huge pain in the ass to have to wait and worry about them damaging my car.

If something simple fails that can be fixed roadside like a thrown belt or loose hose, I would rather give it a go first before calling them.

I went to Harbor Freight, bought a small bag, filled it with a bottle jack, collapsible lug wrench, assorted common wrenches, a few screwdrivers and pliers, threw in some other small things like a piece of fuel line and some zip ties.

I do have a small fire extinguisher tucked under my seat as well.

Even in my daily driver I have an even smaller tool set in the glovebox, you never know.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Along with the other suggestions.... a set of belts and a fuel pump pushrod...
I had a crap set of the reproduction belts that blew off on the way back from Carlisle one year.....changing those on the side of RT 78 sucked.....
Also swapped out a push rod on a friends car on the way back one year as well....

My car is turning 3200 at 65 mph.  Two hundred miles of that doesn't sound like much fun to me anymore.

AAA membership card :o

Don't think that would help me up here in Canada  :icon_smile_tongue:

Who insures your car? Wasn't even a choice with Hagerty, guaranteed flat bed tow is included in the premium. Only covers the first 12 KM or something stupid, but the main cost is the pick up and unload, mileage is minimal. You can even upgrade it to include your tow vehicle and trailer if you're hauling a lot.

I've had mine on 4 1000 mile round trips with nothing more than a basic set of tools, a spare ECU and ballast and a few other tidbits.
Reliability is of utmost importance.   :2thumbs:

Imo nothing
When i get in my charger I just carry same as in my daily
Phone and wallet

Altho have had the charger break down numerous times
Flooded carby. Screwd starter motor. And just recently. Screwd fuel pump. All events happened while i was out lol.
But also my daily played up the other day too.
But if I had a long trip planned in my charger maybe id bring extra gear. Never plan anything tho. Always just jump in and drive wherever I end up  :2thumbs:

I have Hagerty also
Did not know about the tow option

Think my whole idea is just not to get stuck to need a tow  :yesnod:

I always carry an assortment of tools in a Husky tool bag. A gallon of water/antifreeze, qt. of motor oil, ps fluid, brake fluid, tranny fluid, elec. tape, fuses, misc. connectors, elec. tester,  bal. resis., spark plug, belts, voltage reg., orange box, fusible link. A decent size fire extinguisher behind my drivers seat.
i have driven my old Mopars about 70k miles over the last 20+ years. Three breakdowns, all electrical. All were able to be fixed without calling for assistance.
