So, I was tearing down a 69 charger that I recently bought. When I purchased the car I didn't think that the seats in it were original. But when I removed the rear seat back I found what was left of the build sheet to my car. So that's why I'm now thinking that these are original. I've just never seen any like them. The Charger was originally a 318 car. The picture is what the front seats look like the rear looks just like them.

That is not factory covers
Looks like they have been redone in the past

That's what I thought. I guess whoever recovered the seats left the build sheet in the back.

Yep, it looks like custom covers on the original seats.  It was not an uncommon thing decades ago.

Sometimes they were customizing the car, but often they were just getting torn original covers fixed to make the seats usable again.

I just thought it odd that they were recovered. The last time the car was registered was in 84. So that would mean that the car was 15 years old or newer when they were replaced.

That wouldn't be unusual in the 1970s/80s.  Skilled repair labor was cheaper in proportion to items/materials (than now).  The plastics & vinyls were not up to modern standards.  Etc.

These cars just weren't made to last very long.  The OEMs wanted them to stay presentable & reliable for 50,000 miles.   That's it.  You could keep it running for 75-100,000 miles if you wanted to spend money and fix stuff.

Not to mention that people thought that look was cool in the 70's.
