4 speed starter relay wiring question

Do I exclude the YELLOW wire that normally goes to the starter relay post if I have a 4 speed?  My clutch safety switch wire GREEN is on the single post where the YELLOW wire usually goes for automatics.  Any help....Its been a while since I had a 4 speed car.  Thanks. :shruggy:

The yellow wire is the trigger from ign switch and runs to IGN prong. Can't be ignored.

The G prong usually should get a brown with a yellow trace wire. Thats the one for the NSS... and clutch ( dunno the clutch wire color thought ). I know some earlier relays got this unexistant prong on 4 speeds with a soldered tab to the case to ground it, but if your car got the clutch wire, it should also get the relay for it, which is the same than automatic cars

The ground wire in fat should have a plug which is imposible to conect into the IGN terminal and just can be conected to the G terminal

Just found a pic for the clutch safety ground... efectivelly is green but here is shown the correct plug should be there ( at a side of the number 2 ).

That plug is made on that way to be hard to swap it around with the IGN one, since the ground prong is installed at the corner of the relay

Since you have the wire, I would use the correct relay with the ground prong ( despite the white arrow )

Is for safety

So you are saying that I need the relay with two prongs and not just one.  I wondered why the one that came off my car had two prongs,  I thought someone changed it out.  That makes sense.  I will get the correct relay.  Thank you!!!

'70 has the clutch pedal switch correct... so you need the same "neutral safety" relay as the automatic .

Well, you don't really NEEEEEEED it. You can work with the relay you have at this moment just despiting the green wire hanging around, but using just the yellow one, BUT then it won't have any sense the safety switch mounted on clutch pedal and not wire it. If you have the safety system, I just would use it with the propper relay. Is just right for that reason, safety!

The clutch safety switch is to save idiots from hurting themselves, I hate the load it puts on the crank thrust. The relay you have is for an earlier stick shift car (note red arrow to ground the relay), I'd use it. Just toss the green wire and connect the yellow wire where the green currently is.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
