Connecting modern radio to original connector?

Ive got a Retrosound radio that I am installing in my 68.
Can I connect it to the original radio connector in the harness or am I missing something here?

(Side question: Is the top of the T shaped radio connector the ignition voltage?)

You won't need the orange wire, as most aftermarket radios control their own lighting.  The red you could connect to the switched hot.  Then you need a constant hot and a good ground.  And everything else.

Ok, so the red is a switched (ign) hot?
Then i could grab a constant hot from the fuse box i guess?

yes...

fuse box or any hot source around. Dunno 2nd gens but 3rd gens got a fused feed like this ( circled red which looks the same than the circled yellow ) for constant source requirements around front speaker area, used for map light, glove box light, courtesy light... ( I have all 3 cavities full )

You must have of course a constant source at cigar lighter plug you can splice off. Or even from ammeter stud which are both fairly close The constant source for the new stereos are mostly used for memory purpouse, not for big load. I guess the harness for the radio gets an in line fuse enclosure.

orange can be despited if you got a digital display on new Stereo. If analog and got a clear screen with dial, must be still used. Instructions sheet must be clear about that anyway.

Yeah, the radio has a 15A fuse on the +12 constant cable.
Constant power for memory wont be important as I disconnect the negative on the battery every time I dont drive the car.

I did get the female connector for the radio connector in the harness, would have been nice to be able to use that. But Fuse box feed works too, thats pretty close and can just use a piggy-back connector from my old harness.
The active sub +12v feed i was planning to take from the Am meter on the alternator side.

15 amps fuse? well I think then is more than the Memory, and for the amplifier section too

It has a digital display behind the sticker that looks like the analog display.  No need for the orange wire.  I haven't completely memorized all my controls on my Redondo yet.  That is my only gripe, is the difference from the traditional controls, but it does a lot of stuff a factory radio won't.

Ok then. I will get the red cable connected to the red in the harness radio connector, then at least I have that connector used and not just hanging loose under the dash. (Im allergic to loose ends.)
And then get the yellow from the feed side in the fuse box. 

Ive got the retrosound dash speaker, sub and two rear speakers as my total sound package and its quite a challenge to hide everything so nothing can be seen when looking inside.

Yes... and I don't like ends hanging around either... except those which must be on that way like the underdash harness unused option provisions. But the Radio is normally originally optioned and plugged
