I have a carter AFB on now. I think it's 650 cfm. Aren't they like the economy carb? I want a better one so I can make the Saudi's really rich(don't really care about mpg). Anybody have a favorite? I have a 400 block mostly original stuff, low miles, and  I'm looking for an engine shop preferably in the southeast, that can build a stroker from it. Any recommedations?

Holley hp carbs. They come in vacuum secondaries for the 750 and dumper pumpers 650-950. They used to sell a vacuum secondary 950 but not any more. Those are my favorite for the street. Live up in Mich. so can't help you with a shop.

I agree , Holley HP carbs are awesome

If you're going to end up with a 400 cid street engine (not a race motor in disguise), that AFB is sized well for good response and torque.  Nothing wrong with a well-tuned AFB.  Set it and forget it.  Holley - not so much.

And I might add my Holley HP thinks gas is free. It seems like all I get is 10-12 miles per gallon, its a small block, no mater how I drive, freeway or city.
