Looks good with the new rims and tires, good start, car looks all there, better shape than mine for a starting place,

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Shakey

Car looks to be in pretty good shape and should be a great project.

There are a few fellas from NJ that I am sure would be happy to point you in the right direction.

Good luck with it and keep us updated.

Welcome to the site.

Very cool.  :icon_smile_cool: I'm right in West Orange, so if you need any help, just ask. The last thing I would do is take it to some shop in Newark and leave it overnight. :o

Congratulations on having a father who is smarter than my son's. Looks like a good starting point.  :yesnod:

Kool... we're in South Orange, and that's where the car is now... any suggestions on who to contact for resto/body work???

we're considering these guys http://www.nostalgiamotors.com in Boonton but if there's a place closer and with a good reputation we'd gladly check them out also.

I love those father-son bonding stories....wish my Dad had EVER had anything nearly as cool. The most interesting thing in my Dad's garage is his collection of Beer........
Not that its so bad having a Dad who gives you beer, you understand...

Be sure you find and pull out the build sheet before you send it out for restoration.

You wouldn't want to lose that.

I have been to Nostalgia before. Nice owner, and the garage is pretty cool. They are pricey, but who isn't?

I am right off 280 by Pal's Cabin.

The story of my dad and the Charger is a great one actually.  In 1970, he finished his tour of Veitnam (US ARMY) and was stationed in Germany.  So one day he's hitching a ride to Amsterdam (you can imagine for what LOL) and an American picks him up.  The head down the Autobahn in the left lane and all cars, including Porsches, began to drift into the right lane to let the faster car through.  My dad said he looked at the speedo and it read 150 and it the needle was bouncing (lol), so he asked the driver what kind of car they were in and the guy told him a 1968 Dodge Charger.  My dad was so impressed that he just had to get one as soon as he got back to the States.

Later on that year he and my mom got married and the following year I was born and in 1972 my sister was born and we moved to the US.  My dad's 1st priority, find place for us to live, 2nd to get a job and 3rd to get the Charger... he accomplished all three in 3 months and brought the 1st Charger from DODGELAND on Rt 22 in NJ and has had the car ever since.  It truly is his 1st love.

Rene....It's a Dart!!!!   :brickwall: I actually made a plaque that now states that. At least people don't say it's a Nova, like they do to many Duster owners.  ;D

Great Charger aone415!! Yet another one has surfaced. You can also check out Bob Nagy's Auto Body & Restoration. He's down in Edison on RT.1. Although he's a big Ford guy, he does a lot of older cars. Most bodyshops won't touch them nowadays.

For those that haven't seen Chris' Duster, it's awesome. Like a brand new Duster. Most unrestored Dusters are beat & rusted to death. Chris' Duster is beautiful.
