Can anyone opine upon the quality of these UNlicensed reproduction grilles? I want to buy but am concerned that OER neglected to obtain Chrysler licensing.
Thoughts?

Mike DC

"Officially Licensed" is usually more of a technicality.  It means the repro supplier paid extra to put a little Chrysler logo or part number down in the corner somewhere.  The 100% O.E. resto crowd demands such things.  It doesn't indicate much about quality.  Many times the licensed & unlicensed versions of a repro part are two different batches made from the same molds.

Whether that repro '68 grille is good or not?  I don't know.  I haven't used one.

Last I heard, the repro 68/69 plastic grilles were still not consistently available.  The catalogs list them but they are perpetually back-ordered.

Maybe somebody else can offer better/current feedback.

Are we talking about the same grilles sold by Classic Industries?

Ghoste

I saw one at the WPC Winter swap meet a month (IIRC, it was Roseville Mopar that had it on display).  My initial impression was that it looked to be a quality piece.

The right question should be... what is the quality of the OVERPRICED repro grill ( blah blah blah ) LOL
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

I'm out of touch with the parts world because, fortunately I don't need to buy much for my Charger, but $1K seems a fair price to me for a quality reproduction grille.  It's a substantial part of the car and there isnt much of a need for them like a classic Mustang or Camaro grille so I'm glad they're even available..

I seem to recall reading about sagging headlight doors & misshapen plastic somewhere.

Any word on whether the reproduction grille support is any good?
